Cans, Cans, Cans!

One thing that many people do not know about me is that I collect aluminum cans. I will tell you how it started. I have been known to drink a beer or two in my time and one day I noticed how many empty cans I had lying around. I knew about the scrap yard as I had been there many times. The idea hit me that I should take my cans in for money. That idea has paid off!

I am lucky to have enough room in my garage to store the cans until I have enough to take in. my buddy Richie drinks a lot and he saves his cans for me. Between my beer cans, Richie’s cans, and all the soda cans from the kids, I have collected up a lot of cans! I bag them up and take them to the scrap yard every couple of months. The last time I went I received $38 dollars for my trouble. That’s not a lot, but it is enough to buy a few more cases of beer! I think I’ll keep on collecting and making those few extra dollars!

Stop!!

Every one has a pet peeve that they like to carry around and vent about it whenever possible. I have one too. Mine is about people who drive while on their cell phone. This always drives me crazy whenever I see it. I think they should pass a law against it. People always seem to be distracted while on their phone and doubtless this has led to many accidents.

I know that at least one a week I witness a near accident and always see that one of the participants is on the phone. Driving a vehicle is a serious matter as people can easily be injured or killed in an auto accident. Not to mention the fact that people on phones are a major cause of traffic backups. I hope our state will pass a law against this unnecessary practice!

A day for all

This weekend’s celebration relies on the fact that so many service members have given their lives to defend this great country. I would like to share in this honorable occasion and give thanks for their sacrifice. This nation is greater for their efforts and we all enjoy the benefits they have earned for us. I know that when I look at our beautiful flag, my heart is filled with pride.

I hope that everyone who honors freedom and democracy will join with me in remembering those who fell in battle protecting our country. I thank these men and women who gave us the opportunities that no other country on this earth enjoys. The ability to call oneself an American citizen is the greatest thing a person can be!

A Special Day!

Every year that special day comes around. It’s the day that we honor our Mothers and everything they did for us. I want my Mom to know how much I appreciate all that she has done for me. I hope she will have a wonderful day and I will do all that I can to ensure she does!

I just want to take a moment and speak to my mom. I want her to know that my love for her runs deep and that there is nothing in this world that could come between us! It’s sad that sometimes words cannot express how we feel. I want my mom to understand that she will always be on the top of my list. I hope you have a wonderful day and thanks for being my Mom!!

Another Easter Sunday!!!

Every year we like to go to church on Easter Sunday. It’s always fun to see all the people dressed up and looking good. The pastor of our church is always in fine form and delivers a great sermon. I think it’s a good thing to expose the kids to a religious experience and I hope that the good lessons will positively affect their lives.

One of my favorite things to do is to watch the young kids search for their Easter eggs. I think they are so cute as they run around looking for their prizes. I know that some of the kids are so happy to find an egg. After the long day is always nice to return home and relax. I like to reflect on all the great things that god has done for us and am thankful for his wisdom and patience!

Grandfather still working

My grandfather is 69 years old but still works every day. He is a lawyer so it’s not like he has a physically demanding job but it sure is a mentally demanding job, that’s for sure. He plans on working another couple years before he retires. I’m not sure why because it’s not like they really need the money. I just think it’s because he really enjoys what he does.

He prefers Made to Measure over off the rack suits because they fit so much better. There’s nothing like having to wear a suit and it not fitting right. Grandpa always goes online before he makes his appointment to pick out the material he wants. He has the most beautiful white hair you have ever seen and looks ‘dashing’ in a navy blue pinstriped suit. He has plenty of heavier suits and is looking for one that isn’t too heavy or too light either. I don’t know enough about suit material to know what each type is like he does.

I’m pretty sure he’ll get a double breasted suit with a vest because they look so good on him. The best part about where he gets his suits from is the way they measure their customers. They measure everything to make sure the suit you buy fits you like you want. They’ve been in business making suits for over 40 years so you are getting a quality suit. Grandpa made his appointment right on their web site and will have his suit before you know it.

Amazing!!!

Mom said they got about 6 inches of snow and there was no school Monday or Tuesday.  They had a 2 hour delay on Wednesday.  All we got was about an inch, maybe two but nothing like they got at home.  I think that is too funny.  They got more snow in that one night than they got added all together all winter long.  Amazing.

We have had a whole much more snow here and there than they have but this time we dodged the bullet and it hit them.  Mom said cars were in ditches everywhere.  That’s the good thing about living up here.  People actually know how to drive in snow unlike back home.  Heck they have more accidents when it rains there than we do when it snows up here.  No they can’t drive very well back home.

Snow again!!!

Wanna hear something funny?  They are calling for snow tomorrow night but the funny part is they’re calling for more snow at home than they are up here in the mountains.  You would think that March would stop the snow but Mom said she remembers a snow storm about 15 years ago that left about a foot of snow in March at home.  I don’t remember that at all.  I guess I was too little to realize that it wasn’t supposed to be that much snow in March.  I can’t wait to see how much snow we get and how much snow they get at home.

Goodness it’s cold

Man is it ever cold up here on this mountain.  It’s even too cold to go skiing if you ask me.  I was going to go home for the weekend but decided against it because I was afraid the weather would turn bad up here like they were saying it might and then I would have to drive back up here in lousy weather.  Today is a good day to just stay inside, play my Nintendo Wii and chill out inside instead of freeze your rear end off chilling to the bone outside.  Besides, I can get a lot of exercise playing my Nintendo Wii.  That’s one of the things I love about it.  It gets you up off of the couch and makes you move.  Way cool game system!!!
