Breakout

The department of corrections in Arizona announced today that three inmates have escaped. Tracy Province, Daniel Renwick, and John McCluskey cut a hole in the fence at the Arizona State Prison and got away on Friday. The men were helped by a woman named Casslyn Mea Welch who helped them make their getaway.

The men then kidnapped two truck drivers and used their vehicle to drive toward the Flagstaff area. The men then escaped on foot and left the truck drivers unharmed. Police say the men may be dangerous as all three were convicted of murder. Anyone who sees these men should report it their local authorities immediately.

The learning curve

Since I am fortunate enough to work in an office, I get to learn many things that I would not normally know about. I had the chance recently to learn more about what a dedicated server was and how it affected our business. We rely heavily on the internet and need to keep our website going at all cost. We bring in a lot of business that way and it is important to our bottom line.

It turns out that a server is what keeps your website running. It performs many basic functions that are important. Things like security, redundancy, and latency are all important factors to be considered. Another item we are concerned with is managed hosting. This is a practice that allows us to concentrate on making money as opposed to spending our time trying to figure out what is wrong with our site.

Another word that came up was colocation. I must admit that I didn’t have a clue as to what is was and was interested to find out. This is an option for people who already have a server but want someone to take care of it for them. Servers can be temperamental and it takes a lot of skill to keep them going. I was glad to learn more about the subject at hand and hope I will soon be able to talk more intelligently about it.

Marriage

One thing that has been in the news a lot lately is the long awaited marriage of Chelsea Clinton to marc Mezvinksy. The couple will be wed on July 31. The tabloids have been having a field day trying to make the wedding into a major event. I am sure the coverage of the wedding will be thorough and exhausting.

I wish the newlyweds all the best in their new life together. I hope they can be happy and avoid a lot of unnecessary coverage from snooping news reporters.

Tee for Two

Everybody I know seems to have a favorite pastime. One of my favorites is the wonderful game of golf. There is nothing I enjoy more than hitting the links for an afternoon of fun. I find the game challenging to me on so many levels. It’s always a pleasure to test myself and see where I have improved. One of the only problems I have with the game is trying to fit it into my tight schedule.

It can really be a problem sometimes to find the course I want to play with a tee time that suits me. These tee times can be hard to obtain as they are usually scheduled far in advance. I was lucky to find a way to eliminate the problem as I found a site called www.48hourteetimes.com. This site allows you to find open tee times for a number of courses in the Myrtle Beach area.

Now that I have found the site, it is much easier to get in 18 holes. All I have to do is check the site for the latest available 48 hour tee times. Now I have been having so much fun. I am getting to play the game I love more and more often. I can also use the time I save to work on my game and improve in the areas I lack. I hope to see you all on the links!!

Thanks Jack

While most people cringe when they hear that a hacker is breaking into their computers, sometimes it’s a good thing. Hacker Barnaby Jack has been working on hacking into ATM machines for the last several years. The difference between jack and the rest of the hackers is that he is doing it for a good reason. He wants to help make ATM machines safer.

At a conference in Las Vegas, Jack demonstrated two ways he found of getting an ATM machine to spit out all its money. Industry officials watch with concern as their machines were robbed. Luckily, jack is helping the companies make their machines safer. I am glad that jack is on our side!

Turtles be free

Every year, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service releases hundreds of baby turtles back into the wild. The turtles are gathered from the beaches as eggs and are incubated until they hatch and are ready to be released. Due to the giant oil spill in the gulf, this years release is being debated for its pros and cons.

Experts hope that the turtles will be able to avoid the oil slicks. They believe the animals will be safe from the oil as the cleanup continues. Others say that the threat of storms and tides may drive the oil onto the release site. I wish the turtles the best of luck and look forward to seeing them return to their home beaches to continue the species line.

It’s Stopped!!

All along the Gulf coast, residents are hoping that the oil spill has finally been stopped. BP has announced that the newest cap seems to have been successful in holding back the oil. While there is still testing to be done, everyone has the highest hopes that the cleanup and recovery can begin.

There is still work to do for BP though. Plans for a relief well are being carried out as well as plans to cement the pipe shut. Lets all hope that the fish and fowl in the area can begin to recoup the habitat they lost. Either way, it’s a great day to remember for everyone involved in the spill.

For many years, going to concerts was a major source of entertainment for millions of people. Lately, this form of fun has been dropping off as the economy has slowed. Going to see a major act can be expensive and the industry is starting to feel the pain. Ticket sales are down for many big stars all across the country.

Some stars have actually cut short their tours or cancelled them altogether. Other stars have been resistant to the downturn and continue to do well. Many in the industry expect that good times will return soon and that the music will continue to play.
