Serious Business

Our company is really great about helping out any employee in need. That’s why they supported one of the members of our staff when he encountered some serious problems with addiction. We believe that quality care can help people overcome any problems they may have and that it is the best solution in the long run. That’s why we supported Mike in his time of need.

Mike is a really great guy who recently went through a tough divorce. The problems he had at home affected him in a dramatic way. There came a time when he could no longer hide the problems he had developed. Our company fully supported him when he found that he needed alcohol rehab. We gave him the time necessary to heal the wounds he had inflicted upon himself.

Mike also needed to learn about the latest in drug rehab info. We were glad to find that he was taking his problem seriously and taking the steps necessary to regain control over his life. Now that Mike is back, we are all a lot more aware of potential problems in this area. I would ask that anyone who knows someone with even the potential of having a problem to investigate and find the best addiction resource information. I believe that everyone involved will be a lot better off!

Got some new vitamins

I am a wrestler and because of that, I try to use only natural products.  I don’t want to put chemicals into my body that might slow me down or make my mind sluggish, you know.  Well I found a great web site that has nothing but pure 100% natural vitamins and supplements.  Yeah you might pay a little more but what you get is worth it.

A lot of the vitamins you buy at the grocery store or drug store isn’t even absorbed into your body.  These are and that’s one of the things that I like.  Why pay less and get a lot less, ya know.  I have to stay healthy so when wrestling season kicks back up, I’m still strong and ready to pin them all.

Going skiing with buddies

Heck yeah we’re headed to the slopes.  They aren’t but an hour or so from here and they have been making snow for a long time.  It got cold enough to make snow early this year.  Then there’s been several times that it snowed up to 6 inches at a time so there’s man made and real snow on the slopes.

Mom got me some new skis for Christmas and my grandmother got me some new ski clothes too so I would be warm enough.  She worries too much about me.  Well I was her first grandchild and she helped raise me while Mom worked but then when I was almost 8 years old, my sister was born and Mom stayed home and took care of her.  Anyway, I can’t wait to try out my new duds and skis.

The last time we went skiing, Shane fell and ended up rolling head over feet down the hill and then rolled right into a tree.  It was the funniest thing I have ever seen until we realized he had broken his leg.  Then it wasn’t too funny.  He was out of wrestling for the rest of the year too.  That sucked because he’s a great wrestler.  It really hurt the team last year but hopefully nothing like that will happen to any of us this year.

Have you heard of WorldVision.org?

Have you ever heard of an organization called WorldVision.org?   I just found out about it and honestly haven’t had time to really check them out but as with most organizations that promise to help, you really should see just how much what ever you donate actually goes to the people it’s supposed to help.

From what I understand, this organization will help children and or families in the country of your choice, even here in the United States.  You can choose if you want to purchase a gift like a goat for $75 to help a family have milk, cheese and yogurt.  Or you can donate $35 to provide $490 worth of clothing for children.  Just $25 will give help to sexually exploited young girls.

They offer a ‘Sponsor a child’ option too with what ever amount you can pay each month.  You can choose if you want to sponsor a boy or girl, what country, affected by HIV/AIDS or not and even what month and day they were born if you like.  Or if you would rather, you can just donate money.  They will show you what your donation can purchase for the needy and the hungry.

Like I said in the beginning, I have not fully checked them out but I thought maybe you might be interested in helping others and if I at least get you to check into this site, it might make you check into others too.  As I learn more about this organization, I’ll let you know, Okay?  If you know something about them or find out something, drop me a comment so I can let others know if they are as good as they sound or if they need to look elsewhere.

While we’re planning for Christmas

While most of us are busy trying to find the perfect gift for our loved ones for Christmas, there are local  families here that have a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan in harms way.  We worry about simple things like did we fix enough food for our Christmas meal.  They worry about their loved ones getting a meal that is hot and being warm and safe.

We hope we didn’t forget anyone on our list when it comes to the presents.  They worry that their loved ones will be forgotten for what they gave as they are placed in the ground.  We worry about trivial things while those that are in the military or have loved ones in the military are there to try and make sure we are able to worry about those trivial things.

Because of that, I volunteer at a local nursing home that houses a lot of old veterans.  I read them stories, bring them movies and bring them treats that I get approved before I bring them in.  A lot of patients can’t have sugar and things like that so I have become quite the sugar free cook when it comes to treats.  On any special day like Veterans Day, D Day or V Day, I always make sure to bring each veteran something special to thank them for what they gave and what they did.  To see the humility and pride on their faces when I bring them these little gifts is all the ‘Thanks’ I need.  What do you do to honor them?
