Recycling!!

While I have never been accused of being an environmentalist, I do believe that it is important to recycle when possible. Our planet could be in danger and I think we should act on the side of caution and try not to find out what happens if we manually change our earth’s natural state. We only have a finite number of resources and I think we should use them more wisely.

There are many places to take your recyclable items to. Most counties have drop off points where you can turn in what you have. I am lucky that my neighborhood has a recycling plan in place and they make it easy to do so. I encourage everyone to take part in this important aspect of maintaining our resources in an efficient manner.

Back in Business

I am sure that we are all glad to hear that the Hadron Collider is up and running again. The giant machine was built on the Swiss-French border and will be used to smash atoms for scientific research. The machine had a major setback last year and needed repairs that took almost a year to complete. The machine is now ready to be restarted.

Scientist hope to learn how atoms react when they collide with other particles. They also hope to discover evidence of the Higgs boson that is still a theory. No matter what happens, I am sure that the field of science will grow as well as our knowledge of the universe.

Who’s there?

No matter how much things change, some things stay the same. We see evidence of this yet again when a Florida man claims he has seen a monster in the canal behind his house. A retired engineer named Russ Sittlow claims to have photographic evidence of a sea monster he has dubbed Normandy Nessy.

Experts who have viewed the film believe the creature he filmed was a manatee. Mr. Sittlow still maintains that a monster is on the loose. I guess I’ll believe it when I see it!

Swine Flu Sick Leave

It seems that there is a lawmaker who wants to introduce a bill to have all people who are diagnosed with Swine Flu to be able to have sick leave that their employers pay for. There are thousands of low paid employees who may come to work and spread the disease. This bill would help to reduce the risk.

The bill would require that anyone with more than 15 workers to offer sick leave to those who are suspected of having the flu. I think this is a great idea as it will help stop the spread of this dangerous disease. It’s about time that our congress did something to help the common man!

Good Deals Online

Since I spend a lot of time online, I run across many deals that are very good. One deal I was looking at recently was for a Myrtle Beach Resort that seemed too good to be true. I had to admit that the rates I was able to get were very good and well worth the little bit of effort I put in. It was so easy I could hardly believe it.

It seems that there are a number of Myrtle Beach Resorts that have openings. It’s hard to believe when you consider the fact that it’s such a special place to visit. The place is always hopping with action as the many attractions are always open. There is something for everyone in the family. I like to play golf and they have numerous courses to play. Shopping is always another option to consider, my wife enjoys spending her time browsing through the many stores that are there.

Another benefit of Myrtle Beach Hotels is the options that are available for kids. They can spend their time walking up and down the beach as well as playing in the water. The kids love spending time in the sun and playing with their friends. All in all, this is a great deal and I always look forward to going!

Too much fishing

It’s hard to find a case when where too much fishing is bad, but I think we have found one. It seems that the commercial fisherman have gone too far in the case of the Hoki. The Hoki fish lives in the deep waters of the pacific and has been the victim of overfishing. The monetary benefits of the fish have out weighed its need for protection.

McDonald’s corporation uses about 15 million pounds of the fish in its sandwiches each year. Environmentalists say that the fish is in danger of decline. I hope that the people of the world will realize that the bounty of nature is not always limitless. We must be able to find a balance between our interests and Mother Nature. I hope we will find a way to do so.

Floating on air

It seems that NASA is at it again. This time they have hit the news with a new story about levitating mice. They have been working on a device that uses a superconducting magnet that can levitate the water that is in every living animal. While in the device, the mice floated around at the will of gravity.

They said the research was in connection with the study of gravity and humans. Long space voyages will take advantage of the results of this study. I hope the money they have invested in this will pay off!

Need a Cat?

The other day we made the mistake of feeding a cat in our neighborhood. It seems that this particular cat has been roaming around and is homeless. Now we can’t seem to get rid of her. We ended up taking her to the vet and had her fixed. We put up signs throughout the neighborhood hoping to find the owner. So far, we have had no luck.

Seeing as that she is getting along with the two cats we have already, we have invited her into our home. She seems to be very happy there and has adjusted well. She does eat like a horse though so it has taken quite a bit of money to keep her. We’ll see if we cannot yet still find the owner and give her back!

My favorite places

My family is always on the lookout for new places to go. We love to travel and do so whenever we can. After talking it over with the kids, we all decided that we wanted to visit one of the Myrtle Beach Resorts that a friend of mine had told us about. He spoke about the beach, shopping, and other activities to do there and we wanted to try it out. The kids were especially excited about going.

My wife and I like to golf. We wanted to try out some new courses that we hadn’t played before and there are many courses in that area. Whenever you visit a Myrtle Beach Resort, you can count on the fact that you will have plenty to do. The kids were much more interested in visiting the beach. They love the water and like to play along the shore building their sandcastles.

The best part about the whole deal is that it’s a wonderful place to getaway to. No matter which of the many Myrtle Beach Hotels you visit, you can always count on the best service and accommodations. We enjoyed our visit there so much that we are planning another trip next year. I’ll have to thank my friend for informing us about this wonderful place, he certainly helped us enjoy our summer!

Free water

One thing we love to do around our house is to save money. I heard about one good way to do just that. A friend of mine told me about his investment in a rain barrel. I had heard about them before, but didn’t really know what they were for or how they could save me money. My friend explained it all to me. Whenever it rains, water runs off your roof and into a gutter. Typically, this water runs into the street or into your yard. This water is wasted and has no value.

The benefits of rain water barrels are that they capture this water and you can use it at a later time. This water is known as “soft water” because it usually does not contain Chlorine, calcium, or lime. That makes the water excellent for gardens and lawns. Every year, thousands of gallons of water run away from your house when it could be used for a good purpose. There are other benefits as well.

Whenever you engage in rain harvesting, you are helping the environment as well. By taking advantage of this type of system, you are able to prevent water from having to be treated. This saves on water costs and chemicals that are wasted to treat water you are just going to put on your lawn anyway. Since I have installed my own rain barrel, I have been happy to know that I am saving money and helping the environment!
