Eroding beaches

The modern world has so many problems. One problem that will affect us all is that of the rising sea level all around the world. Due to global warming, the water levels of the oceans are rising at alarming rates. This is causing problems for countries around the world. Beaches are being swallowed by the rising water.

While many people have stopgap solutions to the problem, there is no real permanent solution evident. Some areas are already gone and others are on the short list of disappearing altogether.

Good Scenery

The world is a wonderful place. It’s full of amazing people and places. One such place that I had the good fortune to visit is Arizona. While it might be a little dusty sometimes, all in all it’s a beautiful place. The desert scenes are spectacular as well as the sunrises and sunsets. I have a friend who lives there and I was able to visit him and his family for a few days.

One big issue that consumes Arizona is illegal aliens who come over the border. They are causing a lot of security problems for the local residents as they do not feel safe with so many desperate people around. My friend says he feels somewhat better now that he contacted a home security higley specialist who helped him install a security system for his home. His family is very important to him and ensuring they are safe is top priority with him.

Other than that, Arizona is a fine place to live. There are many things to see and do as the landscape is awesome. My friend also has the benefit of having Direct TV in his home. This gives him access to many shows and programs that he would not receive otherwise. I was a sad day when I left for home but I am hoping that someday I’ll be able to stop in again.

A Farmer’s Life for Me

I’m a farmer and love being able to provide my community with healthy, locally grown produce. I specialize in different varieties of heirloom tomatoes, but I also grow okra, corn, and various types of potatoes as well. I’m considering getting a couple of milk cows soon, but for now I’m happy just growing my veggies.

I needed a good home internet connection to stay up on the local weather and also to stay in touch with my buyers and the farmer’s market in town. I did some research on www.WirelessInternet.net and found a good mobile connection for us, so I’ve been surfing and emailing for the last few months, making my life much simpler. It’s certainly easier than carting around huge boxes of vegetables to see who wants to buy!

I’ve avoided two spontaneous ice storms this year already by looking up the weather online rather than relying on my farmer’s almanac, so the service has already earned its weight. I’m so happy being a farmer and I think my customers are glad I do it, too!

Smokey Austin

Remember how I said that most of Texas is having problems with wildfires? Well, it turns out that my high school buddy, who lives in Austin, is having problems with this exact thing. He works for Dell computers, which is in the Austin area. Actually, it is up in Round Rock, but that’s part of Austin. And the smoke from the fires is causing problems for everyone – besides the threat of having your house or ranch or business torched to the ground.

A really big problem  for homeowners and landlords is cleanup after a fire or dealing with smoke damage. Smoke gets on everything – even dishes and food stored inside kitchen cabinets. It covers the walls, the ceiling, light fixtures, curtains and gets in carpet really bad. He’s going to have to get to come out and help clean up his house after the fires are put out for good.

He says th smoke damage is so bad that he can’t even sleep in his own home. He had to go get a motel room for a couple of night. Now, that is really bad if you can’t even sleep in your own house. If it were me, I think I’d take a week off and go somewhere else. But he says that he can’t take off any time right now because its the start of the second quarter and they have to make their numbers. When its safe to go back home, he’ll get Carpet Cleaning Round Rock to come get his carpets cleaned while he scrubs the rest of the house with Dawn dishwashing detergent to get rid of the smoke film.

Extreme Weather

Can’t complain about the weather here but I heard this morning on the news that the weather is really extreme in other parts of the country.

Texas has been in a serious drought with very little rain and hundreds of wildfires are out of control in almost every county in the state. They said that all but 2 counties have serious problems with wildfires because of the dry conditions and high winds.

The next line of states east of Texas, like Arkansas and Missouri, have issues with violent thunderstorms, hail, tornadoes and flooding.

In Colorado, it snowed on Easter. Look at these extreme differences in the weather in the middle of our country and tell me that this is not freaky.

A friend of mine posted this on his Facebook wall. I wasn’t sure it would work on my blog. I’m glad it showed up – this is not a video – it is a live stream. When the sun goes down it goes dark – but look at it during the daylight and it is amazing.

Is earth starving?

Scientists believe that the future of people on earth will be more difficult than ever. Since population growth is expected to rise over the next 40 years, the pressure on our planet to produce the food we need will rise. This will cause global competition for resources.

Many believe that keeping the population down will help in this effort. Family planning programs must be funded especially in poor nation such as Africa. Food prices will continue to rise and efforts to produce the food we need will be harder.

Spring Fever

I don’t know about where you live, but around here it’s been a long and cold winter. That’s why I was so excited when t he weather finally seems to be turning. Yesterday was very nice and today is even better. I spent the better part of the morning outside just enjoying the sunshine.

I have been waiting to get out of the house for a long time. I like doing many things indoors, but it’s really nice to get out and enjoy our earth. I am sure the worst of the winter is over and we will all be basking in the sun!

Keep the world clean

Our world is very precious and I love many things about it. I love the outdoors and have taught my children to appreciate them as well. That’s why I feel that’s it our duty as a people to keep our world clean for future generations. It’s only right that we hand our kids a chance to enjoy nature as we found it. There are a few things that we can do to help this process along.

Keeping our world green is fast becoming a new way of life. One area that had concerned me was electronic recycling. Our business has many devices that are outdated or no longer work and need to be disposed of properly. It’s true that our former method of computer disposal was just dumping them in the trash. This is no longer the case. We have taken steps to ensure that we do our part to keep the world safe from the hazardous materials that can be found in electronic devices.

I think recycling computers is a good thing to do. There are companies out there who specialize in this field and they should be taken advantage of. We all have to do our part in making sure our waste does not become a problem for our children. I hope that these methods will become ingrained in our society.

How we look

Our home is one of the most important things in our lives. It’s where we spend most of our time as a family. That’s why we all feel strongly about how it looks. We have spent a lot of time fixing up the inside of the house to our tastes and have recently started working on the outside of our home. After all, most people only see the outside of our house. We want our neighbors to see who we are and how we live.

One thing we have done is to install address plaques on the outside of our house. We feel that it gives us a touch of class when people go by. I know that many of our neighbors have commented on the address plaque we have on our house in a positive way. They like the way it looks and have told us so.

I feel so much better knowing that our house looks good. I appreciate the whitehall address plaques we have and think that everyone else should consider getting them as well. They add a touch of class to the house and make us look good. They also make it easy for people to find us. That’s important to us and the way we feel about our home.
