Swine Flu Sick Leave

It seems that there is a lawmaker who wants to introduce a bill to have all people who are diagnosed with Swine Flu to be able to have sick leave that their employers pay for. There are thousands of low paid employees who may come to work and spread the disease. This bill would help to reduce the risk.

The bill would require that anyone with more than 15 workers to offer sick leave to those who are suspected of having the flu. I think this is a great idea as it will help stop the spread of this dangerous disease. It’s about time that our congress did something to help the common man!

Busted!

When I woke up this morning I saw that there had been a large drug bust that involved over 300 people. I was glad that the authorities were able to take this action and help get the drugs off the street. It seems that most of people involved were associated with a Mexican Cartel known as “La Familia”. The arrests were made in over 38 cities and netted a large amount of cash, drugs, and guns. I hope the DEA will keep up the good work.

The other day my daughter came home and was working on her homework. She was stuck and asked me to help her. I looked over the problem and I had to admit that I didn’t know the answer. There was a day when I could do math, but it seems that those days are over. That’s why I did a search of the internet to see if I could find some Free math homework help. I was glad I did.

Information made easy

Since I work in a large office, I am constantly placed in different situations. Sometimes, I need to learn about internet sites that are different than what I am used to. It is not uncommon when I have a need to utilize sites that are not in my area. One site that I use a lot is called justclicklocal.com. They come in handy when I need to find information about a city that I do not live in.

The other day, I needed to find out some information about the local businesses in Miami, FL. I was sending a sales rep into the area and wanted to make sure he was off to a good start by ensuring he knew where to find local services. This site can provide all the information that any normal person would need.

The site has come in handy more than once as I have utilized it to find information about businesses in Pittsburgh, PA as well as Charlotte, NC. The best part is that it is easy to use and doesn’t cost a lot of money. I am glad that there are sites like this that make my life easy. I also enjoy looking good in front of the boss.

Kids and money

I saw a funny article today about some kids who found some money. I thought it was kind of funny so I will pass it along. Four kids in Germany found an envelope full of cash on their way to school. Upon their arrival at the schoolyard they started passing the money out to all of their friends. At that time, a teacher was notified and the police were called.

The police came to investigate and tried to collect the money that had been distributed. That turned out to be quite difficult and it took some time before the money was collected. The police are now investigating whose money it is and how it came to be there. I am sure that I would like to find a nice bundle of cash right now!

Help for those who need it

I work in a large office. Because of this, I run into many types of people. Some are very nice and some are not. Some have excellent lives, while others have struggled with personal problems. It’s the later type of person I would like to address. Since I have started working in this office, I have personally met two or three people who have needed Alcohol Treatment. They are not bad people by any means, just people with problems.

One of the best things about my company is that they understand the value of people and will stand behind those they hire. I thank goodness that I work for such a great company!

God Bless

Once again we heard a weird story in the news today. It seems that three New Jersey boys failed to stand during the playing of God Bless America. Shortly after the song had played, the boys were asked to leave the ballpark. The boys are suing and there is some confusion as to what really happened.

The boys say that no one asked them to stand and so they did not. Stadium guards declined to give a reason as to why the boys were asked to leave. The whole mess has caused some hard emotions on both the boys and others who respect the song.

Tickets

I was very unfortunate the other day to receive a ticket. I made an illegal u-turn while trying to get into the shopping mall. I won’t cry to much as I know it was my fault. The bad part is that when I went to pay the ticket online, the site would not take my ticket number. I am unsure of how to proceed with paying the ticket and may have to break out the checkbook!

Enlightening the World

I wanted to take a minute to thank the people of France for giving us a wonderful present, The Statue of Liberty. This giant statue clad in copper stands as a symbol of the friendship between our two countries. Dedicated on October 28, 1886, it marks the centennial signing of the Declaration of Independence. Standing at 305 ft tall, the statue welcomes millions to our country. Thanks to the people of France!

Need a Cat?

The other day we made the mistake of feeding a cat in our neighborhood. It seems that this particular cat has been roaming around and is homeless. Now we can’t seem to get rid of her. We ended up taking her to the vet and had her fixed. We put up signs throughout the neighborhood hoping to find the owner. So far, we have had no luck.

Seeing as that she is getting along with the two cats we have already, we have invited her into our home. She seems to be very happy there and has adjusted well. She does eat like a horse though so it has taken quite a bit of money to keep her. We’ll see if we cannot yet still find the owner and give her back!
