The hurricane Irene is currently hovering over the east coast. We have had heavy rain all through the night and they seem to be getting worse. The wind is slowly picking up and is starting to become a factor. I believe the worst is yet to come.
We took the time to make sure our house was ready for the storm. We stored the loose items and made sure everything was put up. We are all stocked up with food, water, and candles. I am sure we will be all right.
One of the best memories of my childhood is when I was a boy scout. We learned many things about how to survive in the wild. This good advice came in handy when a 12 year old boy named Jared got lost in the woods recently. Jared stayed calm and used his training to stay alive.
After getting lost in the woods on his way home from a lake, Jared built a crude structure to sleep in using branches and logs. He also used dirt as a blanket to keep himself warm. The strategy paid off and he was found early the next morning. Jared is not discouraged though, he plans to go camping again soon.
Man has always been inspired to build. Whether it was a simple hut back in the stone ages or a modern office building, we want to make things newer and better. The latest addition to man’s ability to build will blow your mind.
Formerly, the tallest building in the world was 2,717 feet tall. The good thing is that plans are underway to build a skyscraper that reaches the astounding height of 3,281 feet. The building will be built in Saudi Arabia and be called the Kingdom Tower.
One of the biggest events in anyone’s life is the day they get married. It’s a special day that everyone can enjoy. Our family has a big event coming soon and we are all excited about it. My cousin Judy will marry soon to a wonderful young man named John. We are all hoping the day will be a great memory for everyone.
The best part is that everyone will participate. My son will be one of the grooms and my daughter will be one of the bridesmaids. They can’t wait for the big event. My daughter has been looking for something to wear that will stay within our budget. She has been looking for cheap bridesmaid dresses that she likes. We believe that we have found just what we where looking for.
Another aspect of the planning is the wedding invitations. These are very important as everyone will keep them in their scrapbooks for the rest of their lives. Having ones that are memorable will help them stand out against all the other memories that will occur. This wedding is sure to be one that will remain with us for a long time. I hope everyone will be able to attend and enjoy this special moment.
The U.S. Postal service has announced that it could soon default on its debts. With the advent of E-mail and online bill pay, the rate of people using the service has dramatically dropped. This has led to a massive shortfall in profits for the service.
The Post office wants congress to step in help make up the shortfall. The post office wants more ability to cut services for failing offices as well as cutting Saturday services. I guess we’ll have to see what the future brings.
My house means everything to me. I love to work on it whenever I get the chance. Some of the best news this year is that I have been able to have a pool installed. This has meant a lot to me and my boys and girls. Having a pool has made it easy to enjoy the summer. It’s a great way to beat the heat and spend time with my family. There were only a few concerns we had before installing the pool.
The first big concern was where to put it. I did some measuring and finally worked out where it would go. I did not want it to be too big or too small. The second big concern I had was safety. I wanted to know that my kids would be safe when the pool was not in use. I also wanted to know they would be safe at other times when some kid in the neighborhood happened to wander by.
I ended up purchasing one of the safety pool covers that were available. The cover made me relax about the things that might happen. I believe that safety is always a first concern when doing anything that can be potentially dangerous. That’s why I feel so much better now.
A Florida sheriff announced today that he plans to end the practice of giving each inmate five free pairs of underwear when they are incarcerated. Sheriff Grady Judd plans to save the taxpayers about $45.000 dollars a year with the move. He hopes to keep one more law-enforcement official with a job.
The sheriff also said that inmates who want to wear underwear can still purchase the needed items from the canteen. They will sell boxers as well as briefs.
When my sister moved to Texas, it was a big event in her life. She had recently married a man named Charles. Charles wanted to bring her back to the area that he grew up in. He had a job lined up and knew the people he would be dealing with. Anyway, my sister was willing to go along with him and see what would happen. I wanted her to do well and so I thought I would see what I could do to help.
