One thing that has been in the news a lot lately is the long awaited marriage of Chelsea Clinton to marc Mezvinksy. The couple will be wed on July 31. The tabloids have been having a field day trying to make the wedding into a major event. I am sure the coverage of the wedding will be thorough and exhausting.
I wish the newlyweds all the best in their new life together. I hope they can be happy and avoid a lot of unnecessary coverage from snooping news reporters.
Everybody I know seems to have a favorite pastime. One of my favorites is the wonderful game of golf. There is nothing I enjoy more than hitting the links for an afternoon of fun. I find the game challenging to me on so many levels. It’s always a pleasure to test myself and see where I have improved. One of the only problems I have with the game is trying to fit it into my tight schedule.

While most people cringe when they hear that a hacker is breaking into their computers, sometimes it’s a good thing. Every year, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service releases hundreds of baby turtles back into the wild. The turtles are gathered from the beaches as eggs and are incubated until they hatch and are ready to be released. Due to the giant oil spill in the gulf, this years release is being debated for its pros and cons.
Experts hope that the turtles will be able to avoid the oil slicks. They believe the animals will be safe from the oil as the cleanup continues. Others say that the threat of storms and tides may drive the oil onto the release site. I wish the turtles the best of luck and look forward to seeing them return to their home beaches to continue the species line.
All along the Gulf coast, residents are hoping that the oil spill has finally been stopped. BP has announced that the newest cap seems to have been successful in holding back the oil. While there is still testing to be done, everyone has the highest hopes that the cleanup and recovery can begin.
There is still work to do for BP though. Plans for a relief well are being carried out as well as plans to cement the pipe shut. Lets all hope that the fish and fowl in the area can begin to recoup the habitat they lost. Either way, it’s a great day to remember for everyone involved in the spill.

The war in Afghanistan is still raging. Although the story is just in the background to most Americans, the serious situation is still going on. Every day, thousands of U.S. troops risk their lives fighting for a cause that is uncertain. Many are hopeful that the new commander in charge will change the course of the war.
General David Petraeus will soon take over the role of command in Afghanistan. His recent success in Iraq has many hoping that he can produce the same results in Afghanistan. New strategies will be undoubtedly be tried and many hope that U.S. troops will soon be home.
