Wrapping My Brain Around Half Chaps

The first time I heard someone talk about half chaps, I just couldn’t wrap my brain around the concept of just half of a chap. Now chaps aren’t something that are discussed much, so I hadn’t really thought about the half chaps that they are now selling of which so many of the equestrians of the world are wearing these days.

So when my oldest niece asked for a pair of half chaps for this Christmas I had to look a bit online and see what they are all about. Theequestriancorner.com is a great website for all kinds of equestrian gear and equipment which has a good amount of half chaps of which I took some time and checked out. They were actually cheaper and better looking than I had thought they were going to be, so I ordered her a pair for Christmas. The look on her face when she opened up the package was just fantastic! Her mom actually got a video of her shaking the box, trying to guess what was in it and then just ripping it open and the look of surprise and happiness when she got it open and realized what they were.

The Circle of Life

Since I grew up on a farm, I learned at a young age how to hunt, and all about the “circle of life,” as they put it. It was instilled upon us all how important the treatment of animals were, along with the need to use God’s creatures as a way to keep us alive with their meat, as well as their hides and other body parts for many other necessary usages.

We grew up with many fire arms around and learned how to shoot and clean each weapon along the knowledge of which was used for what reasons. I didn’t get to do much hunting this fall, due to all of the work that is now placed on me and me alone around the farm, but I did manage to go twice and I did bring home some nice venison to eat during the winter months. It had been a while since I had gone hunting, but I enjoyed getting away from all the daily duties around the place, and was glad that the time spent away from the place was productive, and not all just entertainment.

Skate Boarding Stories

After yesterday’s game, a few of us went for a few drinks, shot some pool and got caught up on what everyone was up to these days. I haven’t really been kept in the loop with these guys and was eager to hear all their stories and share a few laughs before heading back to the homestead once again.

With finance and the economy being the way it is today, life is becoming more and more difficult for so many of us, it was nice to just get away from all the “hot” topics that are being discussed each day, so we kept the conversations on the lighter side and no one even wanted to talk about politics and all the heart ache that we are all experiencing due to our governments wasteful overspending and the challenges that Obama now is facing.

My one pal, Doug has gotten totally into the sport of skateboarding and had several good stories that kept us entertained. He is looking to be in real good shape and he had kicked butt all day long during the earlier paintball games. Made all of us look bad in comparison.
