Dreaming about Mardi Gras Fun

One day I would love to go to New Orleans and attend the Mardi Gras festivities that I have always heard so much about. I have been lucky enough to have done some traveling in the past, but never made it to New Orleans, unfortunately. But one day I hope to find my way there and see what all the hoopla is about!

Costumes are not only limited to Halloween costumes any more, there are many other usages for dressing up these days. I have seen some pretty nice Mr & Mrs Santa Claus suites, along with many elf costumes as well, for the Christmas Holiday Season, and Mardi Cras costumes are becoming much more readily available with the Internet and all.

I’ve seen some pretty Halloween Costumes in my day, and the variety of Kids Halloween Costumes has become extremely specialized through out the years, what with all of the cartoon characters that have come out through out the years. I used to always want to dress up as Superman for Halloween and did for several years in a row. I remember dressing up in that costume through out the year, while my friends dressed in their super hero costumes as well, man did we have a blast with those inexpensive costumes that were sold back in the day.

Mom’s New Vintage Style Claw Food Bath Tub

My grandmother has been wanting to re-do her upstairs bathroom for many years, up until we finally took some time to sit and look around on the Internet to figure out exactly what style she was aiming for. We have come to the conclusion that she wants a Vintage style bathroom. For as long as I can remember she has only taken baths. She would put some bubble bath in the bath water, light some candles, set her cell phone and her cup of hot tea on the shelves and kick back with a good book for sometimes up to over an hour. We new not to bother her while she was soaking in the bathtub and if you needed to use the facilities while she was in there you were better off to go upstairs and use the bathroom up there and just let her be until she determined when it was time to come out and join the real world.

We came across some affordable claw foot bath tubs that immediately caught her eye, and she was sold right off the bat! Today her bathroom is completely done with her new tub set up, and she couldn’t be any happier with her choice. Now she can lay back in her tub and relax in her Vintage style bathing room til her heart’s content, she deserves it, let their be no doubt about that.

Beach Weather

Well I’m glad that we all survived the Super Storm Hurricane Sandy and that my sister and her family were able to enjoy the beach house rentals destin fl that they had been planning for long and were threatened to have to call off because of the weather. I know that New York and New Jersey were hit the worst, what a mess that have to clean up.

So far sis tells me that the weather is fine down in Florida and the kids really wished that I had come along, but there is no way I could leave the farm for that long.

Luck

I can’t begin to believe my luck. I found a 48 inch flat screen TV for $40 at an online yard sale site that I look at now and then. Now I just need to find a flat panel stand that I like at a good price too. What I really want is a custom one that I can match to my needs, my taste as well as my budget.

Damn Good Photograph

The Big Bang Theory comes on plenty of times Monday – Friday, during the evening on a couple of station that I get here, TBS has it on the most from what I can figure out. I’m so glad that they are giving us the opportunity to see these reruns, I just wish that I could see the first episode and then continue on in sequence instead of all jumbled up and jumping around from season to season. I never could understand why the networks do that. They certainly have the capabilities to put and show them in order, so what is holding them back. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

The cast of this wonderful show have the pictures popping up everywhere on and off of the TV. This picture is my favorite, haven’t seen it out and about anywhere, but found it online and I have to say that it really is a damn good photograph of all of them. I’ll bet that this is one heck of an interesting and entertaining group of people here folks. Would love to have them over for dinner and a game of cards or trivia and some drinks of course.

Week End Guests

I’ve been extremely busy, trying to get the house ready for next weekends company. My guests are my sister and her hubby, along with their two kids. I haven’t seen them in ages because they live very pretty far away from this area. They are arriving next Friday morning and spending the whole weekend, so I needed most of today to do my shopping and cleaning, and get the guest room ready.

I hope that we will be experiencing some nice weather next week-end, so that we all aren’t stuck in the house for the majority of their visit.

Post Secrets

Sis was telling me about a website that she had just heard of called PostSecret.com and she just sent me the link and I think everyone should check out it. PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard.

It really is interesting/fascinating to read other people’s secrets, that sounds weird doesn’t it, but it is true and certainly nothing new. Once you are on the site you can click on PostSecret video it is where people video their secrets and send them in, there are some strange videos in there.

So if you have some time and want to read some interesting thoughts that are in peoples heads you gotta check this one out.

Dad’s Old Recliner Days

My Dad had a very nice recliner that he spend so much time in when not busy around the house and farm and all that goes on day and night. He would usually find the time right after dinner to sit down in his very well broken in and comfortable recliner and smoke a cigar, sometimes a pipe, sipping his after dinner coffee and listening to the radio or the television for the latest news casts with their interesting and entertaining new stories and other broadcastings that caught his interest.

The last few years, his health had been getting worse and he was really having difficulty getting up and down, in and out of that chair and we had to shop around for a while and find an alternative type of seating arrangement for him. We ended up purchasing him a good lift chair, one of my sisters found a site online that sold the perfect chair for him, remote control and all the perks one could want in one of those Lift Chairs that are available now for people in their senior years and with disabilities as well.

It has been over 15 years since we purchased that chair, Dad made good use of it and it will stay right where it sits in the front living room, one day I’ll be needing to use it, that day may come sooner than I originally thought, with all the work that I have to do here at the farm and the house.

Dating Issues Today

I may sound old-fashioned but I just talked with my youngest sister about this and she says that I’m too conservative. But I really feel strongly that when a guy asks a girl out on the first date, when the bill arrives it should be the guy that pays. It’s just the thing to do to make her feel special and his best chance to impress his date.On later dates and different circumstances, if the girl agrees in advance to go “dutch” then that’s OK. But the first date is all about impressing the other person, and a guy who comes off as broke or cheap just isn’t going to make the cut.
