Lots of things on my mind….
I recently found a website that sends you an email with the Slang Word of The Day. Not something that I generally would be into but after checking out the site for a bit I decided that it could be interesting and entertaining as well. Today’s word was “Douched” not a term that I wasn’t familiar with, but I do now

Last night I found myself doing some mindless surfing on the Internet. You know how you start clicking and clicking and the good lord only knows where you can end up in the end. I found myself at an interesting site, regarding retargeting, which is something that I knew absolutely nothing about. But I’m all about not be too old to learn anything, so I try and learn what I can, when I can.
I know that there is a lot involved with today’s computers and I have a lot to learn. But living the life that I do, on the farm and all, I don’t have all that much need to know so much of what is out there these days. My kid brother is the computer whiz of the family, he has taught me a good amount of things that I have found enlightening, just wish he could come around a bit more than he does at this point. I’m sure he would know all about retargeting companies and remarketing and all that goes along with that issue.
I enjoy learning new things all of the time. I guess you could say I’m a trivia buff. I’ve just got a curiosity that can’t be satisfied! So I do a lot of browsing on the Internet, to satisfy my curiosity! Today I was learning about Ordinary Portland Cement. I did not know that there were five different types of Portland Cement. I also did not know that cement is different from mortar or concrete – I thought they were just different words for the same product!
So today I learned that cement is one of the ingredients used to make mortar and concrete, but is NOT mortar OR concrete! And I learned that different types of cement are used for different purposes. Some types harden quicker than others, some can be buried and some can’t be buried. Cement really is a remarkable product!
Digging around the basement this weekend I stumbled onto a box that I had not noticed before, it was full of sheet music for various musical instruments that my mother had tucked away for who knows how long. She had even kept some of the beginner saxophone music that my kid brother used to have to practice along to. Boy oh boy, didn’t Kevin hate practicing that sax and the whole family (as well as many of the neighbors) suffered right along with him. Day after day, week after week, month after month…….
Kevin has always been known for practicing the “misery loves company” theory. I can’t wait to see his face when I pull out this sheet music and stick it in his face at the next family gathering. Not sure if that is going to be on Memorial Day or the 4th of July. But I’ll tuck it away until the time is right.
The other night I was watching the television show 60 minutes, which is one of my favorite news magazine show. I was especially interested in the story about how a mixture of peanut butter, powdered milk, sugar and vitamins was created and named Plumpynut was created and is being used with great success to feed malnourished children in third world countries.
This was definitely a “feel good” story about how progress is being made to help the needy. I’m glad I stayed up to watch it. I hope that the use of Plumpynut spreads to other third world countries to help feed their starving children too.
In my opinion there is no news program better than the Today Show on NBC. The reason that the Today Show is my favorite news program is because it is one of the first news programs that I can remember ever watching. Jane Pauly and Bryant Gumbel have now given way to Matt Lauer and his cohorts. Another figure that I can remember very well from those old days was Gene Shalit and his movie reviews. As a matter of fact, Gene still makes an appearence on the current show every now and then.
Then there is none other than Willard Scott and his recognizing of people who have reached their 100th birthday. Still, the Today Show in my opinion delivers the morning news like none other and is the best among the major networks. There is nothing better than turning on my TV and watching the Today Show each and every morning. I found some really great satellite TV deals, so it’s nice to really use them! It has been a tradition that has gone on in my households for many years and will be for many years to come, regardless who the host of the show is.
Surfing the net I ended up at a site that offers a wide variety of surgical scrubs for sale. We all have been seeing a lot more folks wearing some unique scrubs that have come on the market these past few years. The days of our medical personnel only wearing those awful white medical lab coats are long over with. Today’s fashion conscience medical professionals are now sporting some pretty cool uniforms that helps them express themselves more and more.

Since I live and work on a farm there is no gold IRA or gold 401k for me in the near future. Ever since childhood I remember hearing tales and references made in regarding to the mail order Russian Brides, but I don’t know that it was still a common belief and practice in today’s world. My sister has been known to try and play match maker for me, she insists that I need a wife, or at least a live in companion, to help around the place, that is so very overwhelming for one person (that would be me) to deal with on a daily basis. Good that that the bass tabs aren’t as pricey as I first thought they would be. You see my sister’s youngest son, my nephew Jeff, is going to be celebrating his 16th birthday in the second week of July. We are throwing him a good sized party to celebrate the birthday of all birthdays.
Sixteen, old enough to be behind the wheel. Hopefully close to being out of high school and most guys start shaving and trying to deal with what to do with all the facial that is sprouting all over their face. LOL!
Two more years and you will be legal, you can vote and join the military if that is your choice. Five more years you can legally drink. And it’s all down hill from there!
