Saturday Shopping Panic

Here it is the last Saturday for shopping before Christmas. The stores are going to be packed.

Maybe I would feel more in the Christmas spirit if I went out and did a little shopping myself. I bought a few gifts over the past couple of weeks, but I am sure I could find a few more things to pick up if I wanted to spend a few hours at the mall.

Hannah Montana Presents Disney

Contributed by Milford Woods

My favorite television station is Disney that I catch on satellite tv. Hannah Montana is a character on Disney with her own show starring herself and her Dad. Her brother occasionally gets to make an appearance but the highlight of Hannah Montana is the actress herself. She has an obvious air that her popularity is due to her own charms which include her singing voice and her blond wig. Sometimes, I catch Hannah Montana just to see her quizzical look into the eye of the camera while she is acting as if to say, you want me to act with you looking? Notwithstanding her less than theatrical qualities, her singing voice is well trained and adds a little bit of music to a program that has expected plots in story.

Hannah Montana is one of my favorite television actresses because she is a very hard working actress. Her program is proof that hard work still counts in making a series popular on Satellite TV Packages. Hannah Montana writers must spend a lot of time with the stars of the show to keep the interest level up for them as well as for us, her viewers.

What’s Wrong With This?

I got this in an email today and after much thought I decided to go ahead and place it here on my blog.

“Someone please tell me what the HELL’s wrong with all the people that run this country!!!!!!

We’re “broke” & can’t help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.,??????????? In the last months we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile, and Turkey. And now Pakistan…..home of bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!! Our retired seniors living on a ‘fixed income’ receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour Hundreds of Billions of $$$$$$’s and Tons of Food to Foreign Countries!

We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.

AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without ‘needed’ meds, and mentally ill without treatment -etc, etc.

YET…………………

They have a ‘Benefit’ for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.

Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave ‘US’ the same support they give to other countries.”

A Touching Nativity Scene To Ponder

A Nativity Scene was erected in a church yard last weekend, sometime during the night some folks came across this scene.

An abandoned dog was looking for a comfortable, protected place to sleep. He chose baby Jesus as his comfort. No one had the heart to send him away so he was there all night.

Don’t you agree that we should all have the good sense of this dog and curl up in Jesus’ lap from time to time.

This is too sweet not to share and no one mentioned that the dog breed is a “shepherd!”

A thank you to my sister for sending this to me last night!

Die Hard Series Among My Favorite Movies

Thanks for the article from Jermaine Haynes

I have been a true Die Hard fan since the first movie hits the theaters back in 1988, I love Bruce Willis an believe he is the reason the Die Hard movies have done so well. No other actor could do justice to the part of John McClane so brilliantly.

The original movie center around Christmas Eve where McClane, who is a police officer with the NYPD, and he decide to travel to Los Angeles to try and work out the problems in his marriage to Holly Gennaro played by Bonnie Bedelia. Of course the arrival of thirteen terrorists put a damper on his plans for reconciliation with Holly who is taken hostage along with other party goers.

McClane is not taken hostage and roams through the building become a nuisance to them while attempting to foil much of their plans. The story ends with the good guys winning of course and the hero McClane reconciles with his estranged wife in blissful harmony once again.

Now I am told that Die Hard 5 is in production and I am happily waiting in anticipation for its release, but I am going to have to check my satellite TV guide to find out when Die Hard 4 is playing, as I have yet to see the movie. That’s the best thing about having Cable TV channels, we can catch reruns of all our favorite movies.

Credit Issues

Who would have thought that our credit report would have so much impact on our daily lives? I used to think that credit was only important if you wanted to buy a house. But over the years I have learned that credit affects buying a car, getting credit cards, and even getting life insurance. So I decided to find a place that could help and discovered  The Credit People have a web site with lots of good information.

There are web sites to help people with credit repair service as well as giving information to people just learning about credit and getting started, such as new college grads and even people newly widowed who never handled money before. I’m hoping that this type of information might help some one else out in their time of need and these are certainly needy times that we have gotten ourselves in.

My credit got all messed up a few years back, before my parents passed away and I took over the farm and house. I haven’t had the extra time or energy to deal with credit issues but due to my sister’s urging I have been looking around a bit online researching the different “Repair Your Bad Credit” options and offers that are out there today. You can imagine how much easier the Internet makes this task for me. The last thing I need is to be tangled up with numerous phone calls or playing phone tag throughout my busy day.

I have managed to pay off most of my credit card bills, but there are still two of them that have some pretty high balances on them, with some pretty steep interest rates being charged each month. I’ll be able to breath a bit easier once they are done and over with, and I’m so looking forward to that day.

Another Fatal Hunting Accident

Every year we hear the sad stories of a hunting mishap, usually they are fatal mishaps, much like the one that I just heard on the radio yesterday. The story was about a father, some where in the southern part of Virginia, that took his two sons, ages 7 & 10, out hunting. The 7 year old shot a dear with his pellet gun and then proceeded to run towards the dear, mean while the 10 year old shot his shot gun at the dear and the younger brother was hit by the bullet and was killed. What a sad story, I can’t imagine what that family is now going through. There is no good time for something like this to happen, but right during the holiday season must be the worst time ever.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians

While surfing channels I seem to keep seeing bits and pieces of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians, a show that I have never had any intentions of watching. I keep seeing a guy that looks familiar, but his voice isn’t quite right and his hair is just butt ugly. Come to find out – this guy is Bruce Jenner, a former Olympic athlete but something just didn’t seem to fit so I Googled his name and found out that he is one of the many victims of some plastic surgery done bad.

The 2010 National Geographic Photo Contest

National Geographic has always been known for their great photographs. I’m glad that I ran across this photo on Yahoo. Most of us have a soft spot for dolphins and this photo depicts the seriousness of what man’s trash is doing to so much of our wildlife.

Dolphin alert?- The archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, Brazil is considered a wildlife sanctuary, but today, even in this isolated archipelago dolphinsare victims of the bad habits of consumption.

Los Angeles Kings

Post contributed by Josue Durham

The Los Angeles Kings have returned to their regal origins with a great start to the season, all of this without the talented defenseman Drew Doughty, and I can only assume that once Doughty returns the wins will continue in perpetuity. Okay, maybe not in perpetuity, but this team will be very impressive for a long time, as they are excellent in all facets of the game, and their defensive prowess will only further improve with the addition.

Doughty hopes to return Thursday, but regardless of whether he does or not the Kings have shown they can win without him. This team is a juggernaut, a majestic team which I have pledged my undying fealty. Last night we booed Kovalchuk relentlessly as our stifling defense held him to only two shots on goal. We made the former King realize that joining up with Satan’s army was a mistake, as the mighty monarchs taught him who wears the crown. It is no secret why we continue to be perfect at home, as home is the palace where the king feels most comfortable. I suspect we will win like 80% of our home games this season, that is how talented and impressive this team is. Since I moved far way from Southern California, I like rooting for the Kings via NHL Center Ice available through Direct TV satellite.
