Box Office Failure

One of my favorite action movies by someone other than Mel Gibson has got to be the original “Speed.” The movie had a great cast: Keanu Reeves – gorgeous, intense, the clean cut, cop-type everyone loves to love Dennis Hopper – one of the best bad guys EVER – Sandra Bullock – America’s darling – Jeff Daniels – Imaginative casting – from slapstick to a cop – and it worked! Can you believe it has been 19 years since that movie came out? IT was released in 1994. Now that certainly makes me feel so OLD!

One of the worst sequels of all time, Speed 2 was made with a lot of the same people, with the noticeable absence of Keanu Reeves, and released in 1997. It was a box office failure – and rightfully so. The movie was a money grab and had so many technical inconsistencies that it was neither believable nor entertaining. The set for the huge crash ending was supposed to be the Caribbean town of St. Martin, but according to Wikipedia, there is no town by the name in the movie and there is not town that looks anything like the scene in the movie. So I stand by my original comment that the Isla Moin Marina in Costa Rica was used as the basis of the movie set in Speed 2. Unless this town did not exist in 1996, in which case I wonder if the architect was inspired by the movie?

The New Video Chat Lights

My sister has been talking up the video chats to me, that so many people are using and enjoying, saying that I should start looking into getting on to a few video chat rooms, just to be able to socialize a bit. I have been blowing her off with every excuse that I can think of, most of them were true though. I am super busy around here taking care of everything that needs to be done all on my own. At the end of the day I’m pretty beat and not in the mood to go anywhere except to the kitchen, the living room and then to bed.

Since I do spend so much alone time, it certainly does get lonely. The holidays are always the worst so I think I just might check into some of the sites that my big sis has been telling me about. But first I want to look into the video chat lights that are out that helps make your video image look more pleasing. I need all the help that I can get. I’m just a farmer, not at all fancy like and haven’t worn anything but jeans in well over 6 years! Just stating a fact.

Running Up That Hill, Without the TV Set

With everything that needs to be done around the farm and the house by me, myself and I, I don’t usually have a whole heck of a lot of down time, but when I do I really like to kick back with a cold beer and watch an hour or two of some good action or comedy shows and/or movies. You would think that with all the channels that I get with my current Direct TV package that there would be several things on tonight, but that just wasn’t the case.

I started to watch a movie on one of the Showtime channels called Bellflower but after staring at the screen for over 10 minutes and still not catching on to the plot or being entertained at all I couldn’t deal with this movie another minute. The good news is that at the beginning of the movie they played a song that I swear I haven’t heard or even thought about in well over 15 years “Running Up That Hill” but I they only played about 45 seconds of it, just enough to tease me into turning off the TV and turning on my computer to try and find this song on YouTube. I had no idea that there were several versions of it, but it didn’t take too long to find the one that I was used to hearing, the one by Kate Bush.

For some reason this song just moves me, not in a bad or depressing way, mind you. I really can’t explain the feeling, but it is a good one and those feelings are hard to come by lately so I’m going to take it and run up that hill!

Dreaming about Mardi Gras Fun

One day I would love to go to New Orleans and attend the Mardi Gras festivities that I have always heard so much about. I have been lucky enough to have done some traveling in the past, but never made it to New Orleans, unfortunately. But one day I hope to find my way there and see what all the hoopla is about!

Costumes are not only limited to Halloween costumes any more, there are many other usages for dressing up these days. I have seen some pretty nice Mr & Mrs Santa Claus suites, along with many elf costumes as well, for the Christmas Holiday Season, and Mardi Cras costumes are becoming much more readily available with the Internet and all.

I’ve seen some pretty Halloween Costumes in my day, and the variety of Kids Halloween Costumes has become extremely specialized through out the years, what with all of the cartoon characters that have come out through out the years. I used to always want to dress up as Superman for Halloween and did for several years in a row. I remember dressing up in that costume through out the year, while my friends dressed in their super hero costumes as well, man did we have a blast with those inexpensive costumes that were sold back in the day.

A Ford Man

There is something about a New Ford that just excites me, my father was always a Ford man, he was proud to announce to anyone who would care to listen that he had only bought Ford vehicles all his life and I have followed in his footsteps as far as I’m concerned. The Ford Dealership and Maintenance Shop in town knows the family very well, we have been receiving Christmas Cards from them for as long as I can remember and am on a first name basis with the majority of employees that have worked there through out the years.

You can keep your Chevy thank you very much. I’ll just keep on buying and driving Fords and make my father proud of me while he watches me from up above, along side of my dear mother who didn’t care kind of vehicle it was as long as it got her to the grocery store and back as well as to church every Wednesday evening and Sunday morning.

Online Relationships

We have all heard the horror stories by people, or about people that have found someone on the Internet, and things went sour. To be honest, meeting some one anywhere can be disastrous and can lead to problems, and more people are turning to the Internet for companionship and possible love interests.

My sister has been after me, for some time, to sign up at some of the singles sites, she seems to think that I need a wife to help with the running of the farm and the house, and is always emailing me with information regarding online chat rooms and dating sites.

I’ve spent the last few evenings checking out some of the sites that she has been talking about, so far I like what I read at Great Expectations, which offers a safe and secure online dating community with over 30 years in the making, that in it’s self says something about their company. Right now I’m still a bit gun shy, but it’s nice to know that there are some dating sites that might interesting to check out when the time comes.

Not Christmas All Ready!

Last night I had to go into town to pick up some groceries and other minor supplies that I don’t find good deals for online. Honestly if they had a grocery store that would deliver my groceries (I know they do that type of delivery service in the larger cities) they wouldn’t see me anyway near any of the surrounding towns but a few times a year.

I was dismayed to see that they are all ready putting up holiday decorations around town and in several of the stores that I went into. It really turned me sour on the whole trip that I wasn’t all that thrilled about going in the first place.

Damn Good Photograph

The Big Bang Theory comes on plenty of times Monday – Friday, during the evening on a couple of station that I get here, TBS has it on the most from what I can figure out. I’m so glad that they are giving us the opportunity to see these reruns, I just wish that I could see the first episode and then continue on in sequence instead of all jumbled up and jumping around from season to season. I never could understand why the networks do that. They certainly have the capabilities to put and show them in order, so what is holding them back. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

The cast of this wonderful show have the pictures popping up everywhere on and off of the TV. This picture is my favorite, haven’t seen it out and about anywhere, but found it online and I have to say that it really is a damn good photograph of all of them. I’ll bet that this is one heck of an interesting and entertaining group of people here folks. Would love to have them over for dinner and a game of cards or trivia and some drinks of course.

Warnings

It is really important to have either a red flag or some red reflective tape to put on the end of an overly large and long load in a vehicle. I’m not sure if there is a law concerning this or not, I’ve never heard of anyone getting warned or ticketed for not placing a warning for the people that are behind you so that they won’t come too close and have your load combined with theirs.

I don’t have a problem with depth perception per say, but I know that there have been several times that I would have continued on if not for the red flag or tape catching my attention letting me know to back off. I don’t even like driving behind a truck, any truck, especially a loaded truck for fear that some thing will come flying off of it (and it happens all the time) and either come through my windshield or make me run off the road or run into someone or something else.

I’ve seen so many horrible things happen on the road to too many people that I know and care for. We are always going to be dealing with safety issues on our roads. Every day thousands of people are getting their driving licenses that we find ourselves having to share the road with and look out for and after. I’m so glad that I’m not on the road trying to make a living anymore, it’s just crazy out there and the ever rising price of gas, I saw it today for $3.78 and to think that just a few months ago it actually got down to under $3 for a few days.

Week End Guests

I’ve been extremely busy, trying to get the house ready for next weekends company. My guests are my sister and her hubby, along with their two kids. I haven’t seen them in ages because they live very pretty far away from this area. They are arriving next Friday morning and spending the whole weekend, so I needed most of today to do my shopping and cleaning, and get the guest room ready.

I hope that we will be experiencing some nice weather next week-end, so that we all aren’t stuck in the house for the majority of their visit.
