One thing that really sucks about living alone and tending to the farm as much as I do is that holidays like April 1st (April Fools Day) are just another day on the farm. There is no one around to play a joke on, what a bummer. I used to love playing pranks on people as a kid, any day of the year was a good day to get a good laugh!
Advertising has always been and always will be an issue, you need to get the word out about what you have to offer in order for people to know to come to you for your goods or services. We all know how the Internet has made this issue a much easier task to take on in so many ways. And it’s only getting better and better these days.
I’ve found an interesting site at Eventish dot com that I wanted to spread the word around about here. This is a unique site that assists in the marketing of various events. This is where companies, organizations and individuals go to to make their fundraising, workshops, meetings, classes or even birthdays, anniversaries, and reunions known to others and where you can go to get tickets and other pertinent info as well.
With the population ever growing and so much going on around us we can all use something like Eventish to make things like this an easier process. If you are interested and have a moment to check this site out to see all that they have to offer I would urge you to take a bit of time and see if it is something that you can use for yourself for some type of event that you are trying to promote or if you are trying to find out information about an event that is all ready scheduled. I think that you will find it a most useful and handy tool to have bookmarked.
In my opinion there is no news program better than the Today Show on NBC. The reason that the Today Show is my favorite news program is because it is one of the first news programs that I can remember ever watching. Jane Pauly and Bryant Gumbel have now given way to Matt Lauer and his cohorts. Another figure that I can remember very well from those old days was Gene Shalit and his movie reviews. As a matter of fact, Gene still makes an appearence on the current show every now and then.
Then there is none other than Willard Scott and his recognizing of people who have reached their 100th birthday. Still, the Today Show in my opinion delivers the morning news like none other and is the best among the major networks. There is nothing better than turning on my TV and watching the Today Show each and every morning. I found some really great satellite TV deals, so it’s nice to really use them! It has been a tradition that has gone on in my households for many years and will be for many years to come, regardless who the host of the show is.
There are so many ways to safely keep copies of your documents, photographs and digital music or video files, that it can be overwhelming trying to to keep up with them all. I have a tiny home office and as I was moving things around to make room for a new computer desk, I came across an assortment of media with backup files on them. I found floppy disks, zip drives, DVDs, and flash drives. What I really need is to check out the newest data storage systems and convert all the old files off the old media. After all, new computers do not even have a floppy drive anymore. How am I ever going to access the files on those old floppy disks now?
I’m sure the guys in our IT department at work are laughing at me. They have a lot bigger fish to fry, with protecting the data bass for our entire company. They have to worry about archiving years worth of business records, daily backups for every computer in every office, and data recovery in case of a natural disaster.
Their worries are huge compared to mine. Even so, I would be very upset if something happened and I lost all my years and years of photographs and special documents. I spent days scanning all my old files and organizing them. I was surprised to find how many papers I had saved over the years. Everything from medical records to high school report cards and souvenirs from all the concerts, trade shows and special events that I’ve attended over the years.
I remember when I worked at the law firm and had to keep track of the daily disk backup. Every morning I would come to work and rotate the disks from the servers to the storage area. And each night I would give the latest backup disk to the senior partner for him to put in his briefcase and take home with him so we had secure offsite storage. Now there are much faster and easier ways to accomplish the same thing. I do love progress!
Wanted to do something fun last night instead of sitting around the house bored. But I couldn’t find anyone who didn’t already have plans to go catch a movie with me. Even my friend Mack had plans – a date with someone new. He was very mysterious about the date and I thought he might be making the whole thing up!
But when I pressed him a bit, he admitted that she is someone he met on a chat for Jewish singles and this was their first date. His family is very religious and meeting Jewish Women is important to him but it can be a challenge locally. Turns out he has been talking to her online for a couple of weeks and finally made plans to meet up in person.
Philadelphia Red Cross Car Donation is looking to assist with the process of donating your car, truck, SUV, van, airplane, boat, timeshare, or motorcycle, which is a good way to dispose of your unwanted vehicles and can provide you with a nice tax write off for the year.
Since 2014 is now almost over and done with, all donations will be going towards the 2015 tax return season and I have several old vehicles here at the farm that are just wasting away and have decided to have them hauled off the property and donate them soon.
A very useful site can be found at Charitydispatch dot com, they have vehicle donation specialist waiting 24/7 in order to help you with any questions or concerns regarding charity donations. They make it easy to find the charity of your choice in which to contact to discuss donations and I’m glad that they were able to hook me up with the Philadelphia Red Cross that is going to profit from my several vehicles that I’m looking to rid the farm of.
I wanted to wait until 2014 was over to start donating, I’m looking for all the tax write offs that I can find for next year and this will certainly make a difference for next year’s tax time.
My good friend, that lives only a few miles from me, it totally into restoring cars. Many the old muscle cars that we are seeing more and more of on the roads these past couple of years. You can be that the driver of the car will at least be in their 40’s and most likely having a mid life crisis, much like the guys you see driving the old souped up Corvettes all these years that we have all laughed at watching them cruise down the road.
It is so cool that so many of the older cars are making a come back. Mustang’s right now seem to be ruling the road, once again, and now I’m seeing some pretty cool Chevy Camaro that are making a come back. These newer models are great to see making a comeback and it appears that there are plenty of parts available. CARiD is one of the places that you can find the chevy camaro accessories. They have been in the business since 2003 and are based out of Edison, NJ. My buddy relies on them a lot when he needs custom and OEM parts for his many projects that keep him busy day in and day out.
Today I spent all day mending fences – literally. Last night a drunk driver ran off the road and through a large section of my fence. Thankfully the police notified me that the fence was broken before I let the cattle out into that pasture. I would have been really upset to have to try to herd the wayward cattle back after they had escaped!
So today I had to spend most of the day mending fences. The worst part about it was the memories it brought back about how my parents were killed by a drunk driver. I think that all cars should be equipped with a breathalyzer box and the car refuses to start if the driver has had too much to drink!
It seems as if songwriter Randy Newman didn’t win a whole heck of a lot of short friends when he wrote his 1977 hit “Short People”. The song was a hilarious parody, from a guy who was not vertically challenged. Randy Newman is 5 foot, 11 inches. Go figure.
Football, or fusbal, or to the common man, soccer! A grand sport indeed. Seems to me to be a glorified form of kickball with a hockey net. Not that it isn’t something that takes a bit of stamina, strength and some wicked kicking skills, but what I just don’t get is why everywhere in the world that they play the sport, the spectators get a bit violent, to say the least, over it!
I saw on the news a while back where they had a game in Mexico and the spectators attacked the opposing team, who barely managed to escape into the stadium tunnels. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why people could get so riled up over a glorified game of kickball.
