Gift Cards

Gift Cards and Gift Certificates have become a very popular gift giving item. Too many times have we all purchased a gift for some one only to find out that they all ready have one, or don’t need or want one and it turns out to be a waste of time and money for everyone all the way around. With Christmas coming about in short order I have been spending some time online looking for gift ideas for the folks that I need to buy holiday gifts for and I’ve decided that I will purchase gift cards for many of these folks that are on my Christmas gift giving list.

Green Thumb Issues

Our mother was totally into having the house looking it’s best. My father was responsible for the outside work and my mother was in charge of inside the home. She never worked a day out of the house and was a dedicated mother and home maker. She was known for her Indoor Planters and Outdoor Planters as well. The neighbors were always so envious of her green thumb and she always received the highest compliments for her talents.

I on the other hand did not inherit her green thumb all though I have managed to keep her favorite plant in her favorite Decorative Planter alive and doing well these past couple of years. I do better with outside plants but I’m trying the best that I can.

My sister, on the other hand, does quite well with her Window Box Planters that she keeps looking good all year round. So for Christmas I’ve got my eyes open for a nice Planter to present her with on Christmas day. I think she will appreciate it and put it to good use. If not I guess she will re gift it like she does with so many of the gifts that she receives!

End of The Month

I’ll be so glad when the end of September gets here. That is when I can switch to another cell phone provider. I hate the one that I’m currently stuck with and have been for the past two years. There are better deals out there and I’m researching the different providers out there to find the best one for me and my needs. I’m due for a new phone anyway.

Mail Box Concerns

My older sister has been after me for some time now to purchase a new mailbox. The one that is out on the street now has been there since as long as I can remember and has seen better days, to be sure. She (my sister) saw a program on the TV the other evening that was all about the issue of the importance of people’s mailboxes. It seems that the police, fire fighters and ambulance drivers are having a hard time finding and/or reading the addresses in the emergency situations that they find themselves involved in.

Since I live here on the farm alone, my sister is always concerned with my health and safety issues. She means well but sometimes she gets carried away and really gets on my last nerve. Looking at mail boxes just isn’t something high on my list these days, so I told her that she should consider purchasing one for me and use it as my Christmas present. She hasn’t replied to that email as of yet, but I’m sure I’ll be hearing from her soon.

Hitting up Buckle for Back to School Clothes

My cousin was recently in town and he needed some new clothes. He lives in the middle of nowhere in Iowa. There are no malls for 45 minutes and it is almost impossible to go clothes shopping anywhere except at Walmart. He decided that since he was in town we needed to go to the mall to find him some new clothes.

Before we left for the mall, I made sure to set my first alert alarm. Once we got to the mall, he could not decide which store he wanted to go into first. Finally, we ended up going into a store that sold hats. I thought that was dumb. Who needs hats for school? Next we went into Buckle. This store is somewhat unique because it has personal shoppers for each customer. It took him over 90 minutes to purchase two shirts and a necklace. The shirts were nicer for the times he was going to have to dress up for presentations. Still, I have never spent thirty minutes per piece of clothing in any store. Back to school shopping drives me insane!

Expense Issues

This year has been so very difficult for so many people and it’s a shame that things aren’t picking up fast enough for most. I’m afraid that this year’s holiday season will fall short, big time, of so many people’s expectations. Retail is going to be crazy with sales and promotions trying to squeeze any dollars that they possibly can out of “Joe Public” and people are going to be looking for bargains more than ever. Maternity Clothes Have Come a Long Way

The variety and selection of nice maternity clothes has certainly increased since back in the day. I have located a box full of photos that have been tucked away here at the house for god knows how long and spent last evening looking at a good amount of them. A nice stroll down memory line it was, one that I took alone and took my time with.

I come from a large brood of kids and my mother spent a good amount of time pregnant, according to these photos my mother didn’t gave a large selection of clothes to wear during these times she spent expecting, while tending to the other kids, my father and the house and farm duties. I’ve been recently ,told by my oldest sister, that before I go online to do any purchasing to stop by Extrabux.com and see if there is a link to the merchant first. If so I should click on their link and earn a commission. The more online shopping that is done through their site the more commissions you make. It sounds simple enough. I’ve found a great site that works well in finding local businesses, a local search engine based on any locality information. You can find what ever type of business or service, with accurate driving directions to get you there, along with their hours and contact information as well as reviews and their websites, a virtual online local yellowpages.  Basically a one stop shop for locating local merchants to give your business to. We are finding ourselves in tough times and shopping locally helps keep money in your own home town and community, which is a good plan of action for us to undertake during our economic crisis these days.

At Local.com you can find just about anything you need while given the opportunity to contribute your reviews with others as well. It is always good to hear what others have to say about products and services, especially when you have a good shot at knowing the people that are making the reviews, in and around your own community. I checked out a few local restaurants at Local.com and found comments and reviews from several people that I know from this part of the country and around town, that was pretty cool.
