TV and Sports Programs

A good friend of mine has cable and I subscribe to satellite, so we tend to bounce back and forth to each others living room in order to get the best of both worlds.  He gets the best in cable sports, while I get the Sunday ticket package, so between the two of us we get it all. It’s just too bad that we don’t live closer to each other but I can handle an hour drive in order to enjoy the companionship of a good friend and in order to enjoy a sporting event that I don’t get on my television. He has put to good use the Cloop – Your Handy Magnetic Cable Keeper that I brought over to his place a few weeks ago. His place is a total nightmare, even for being a confirmed bachelor (as I am myself) that I just couldn’t deal with all the cables that keep seeming to breed and cluster all under the entertainment center that he is currently using.

Say Hello to Cloop- Your Handy Magnetic Cable Tie.
Say goodbye to tangled headphones

We both try to keep the refrigerator full of beer and each is responsible for bringing over some munchies to enjoy during the games. It usually isn’t anything fancy, maybe some popcorn, nuts, chips and dip, something along that line. Once in a while we’ll call the local pizza joint to have a  pizza delivered, since neither one of us enjoys cooking and we both enjoy a thin crust pepperoni pizza.

I have found that Cox cable sports really does have the best selections available. And if I didn’t have the opportunity to go over to my buddies place to watch these sports with him I would most likely switch over to Cox cable. But I have had satellite for a good long time and have always had good customer service and I don’t pay a lot of money each month so for now I’ll just stay put. Since I do live alone it does me good to get out once in a while and I’ve known this guy for most of my life and it works out well for the both of us.

An Hour of Sandra Bullock

I watched a special on VH1 last night about one of my favorite actresses, Sandra Bullock. I’d seen it before, but only bits and pieces of it, this time I got to see the whole thing. A full  hour of all kinds of stories, pictures and interesting information about this native Virginian from north Arlington.

There is something about Ms Bullock that really floats my boat. I haven’t seen her do a bad job in any of the roles that she has played over the last twenty-five years or so and I hope that she continues to entertain us me for a long time to come.

Television Service Providers

With so many Direct TV Options available with their program packages, you can’t go wrong with choosing them for your television viewing needs and pleasures. I’ve switched over to DirectTV satellite since coming back home to the farm, my parents had been relying on cable for so many years that I figured the place was due for an upgrade.

Since I had previously been a customer of DirecTV,  it didn’t cost me anything to have it transferred over to the farm house, the whole process was easy and economical as well. And since I have all ready earned a few hundred dollars from referring customers to them, I eagerly look forward to earning some more cash rewards with folks that I run into that are not currently subscribers with Direct TV and are looking for a change due to the digital converter boxes that are soon going to be needed by many people.

Mytvoptions dot com is a good resource tool for figuring out which television service provider is best suited for your needs in your particular service area. You only have to place your zip code in the box and the information for all pertaining to available providers is there for your choosing.

Dozens of Reviews

Afters looking at over a dozen different online reviews and music stores I have decided a Martin 12 String Acoustic guitar would be a great birthday/Christmas present for my nephew this year. He has been using an old beat up guitar that his father found for him at a flea market years ago and I think it’s time that he had a nicer acoustic guitar to play on. He is a good kid and if strumming a guitar keeps him busy and out of trouble then so be it!

Box Office Failure

One of my favorite action movies by someone other than Mel Gibson has got to be the original “Speed.” The movie had a great cast: Keanu Reeves – gorgeous, intense, the clean cut, cop-type everyone loves to love Dennis Hopper – one of the best bad guys EVER – Sandra Bullock – America’s darling – Jeff Daniels – Imaginative casting – from slapstick to a cop – and it worked! Can you believe it has been 19 years since that movie came out? IT was released in 1994. Now that certainly makes me feel so OLD!

One of the worst sequels of all time, Speed 2 was made with a lot of the same people, with the noticeable absence of Keanu Reeves, and released in 1997. It was a box office failure – and rightfully so. The movie was a money grab and had so many technical inconsistencies that it was neither believable nor entertaining. The set for the huge crash ending was supposed to be the Caribbean town of St. Martin, but according to Wikipedia, there is no town by the name in the movie and there is not town that looks anything like the scene in the movie. So I stand by my original comment that the Isla Moin Marina in Costa Rica was used as the basis of the movie set in Speed 2. Unless this town did not exist in 1996, in which case I wonder if the architect was inspired by the movie?
