WebHostingBuzz

A good New Year’s Resolution to adhere to these days is to try and make a better effort to become as “green” as humanly possible. Living on a farm most of my life I have learned many ways to help our Mother Earth in various ways. The good lord knows that we have been into recycling before it was the “in” thing to do. We have always tried hard to replace anything that we have taken from the land and have been open to ideas and suggestions.

One thing that we can all do is give our business to companies that are doing their part in the “green movement”. Did you know that there are website hosting companies that are making a huge effort and are doing wonderful things in order to participate in these practices. WebHosting Buzz is doing a tremendous job with their efforts. You can read more about them here at http://www.webhostingfan.com/reviews/webhostingbuzz-web-hosting-review/.

I’d like to really encourage as many folks as possible to check this out and see if they would be willing to switch over to a web host that is doing things such as WebHostingBuzz is doing. You can find reviews and ratings as well as a lot more information on a ton of web hostings at webhostingfan.com.

I thought streaking was outdated

I was amused to read in the BBC website that a polo match that was attended by Prince Charles was interrupted by three male streakers.  I thought that streaking was long out of style!  I haven’t heard of any streakers recently in the USA!  I wonder if streaking is a frequent occurrence in other parts of the world?

Strange Housekeeping Tips

Can You Relate, I Certainly Can:

Tomorrow I will do the housework, NO EXCUSES!!! (unless they’re good ones)

 1. It is time to clean out the refrigerator when something closes the door from the inside.

 2. If it walks out of your refrigerator, let it go!

 3. The best mini-vac for an after meal clean up is the dog.

 4. Keep it clean enough for healthy, dirty enough for happy.

 5. Never make fried chicken in the nude.

 6. Do not engage in unarmed combat with a dust bunny big enough to choke the vacuum cleaner.

 7. You make the beds, you do the dishes, and six months later you have to start all over again.

 8. If guys were suppose to hang clothes up, door knobs would be bigger.

 9. My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance.

 11. Simplify… hire a maid.

12: My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being Hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.

 13. I’m not going to vacuum ’til Sears makes one you can ride on.

  14. Cobwebs artfully draped over lampshades reduce the glare from the bulb, thereby creating a romantic atmosphere. If your husband points out that thelight fixtures need dusting, simply look affronted and exclaim, “What? And spoil the mood?”

 15. When writing your name in the dust on the table, omit the date.

The All Mighty Credit Score

It isn’t easy to start working on reaching a good credit score and it isn’t easy keeping it good when you finally achieve one. Life has become so difficult with tremendous credit pressure placed on us each and every time we turn around. People are being turned down for employment due to bad credit scores, now how crazy is that? I can understand the need and the concern for some high ranking and high paying jobs for the employee to have decent credit, but those are few and far between these days.

Due to our government’s screw up and our economy in the toilet, life has become a real struggle for so many of us. So the responsibility of keeping an eye on our precious credit score is up to us and using places like FreeScore.com can make that task a much easier one to tackle. I’ve heard stories, first hand about how a messed up credit report can play havoc on your financial situations, big time. What a nightmare, one that I really wouldn’t want to see anyone have to through.

Mail Box Concerns

My older sister has been after me for some time now to purchase a new mailbox. The one that is out on the street now has been there since as long as I can remember and has seen better days, to be sure. She (my sister) saw a program on the TV the other evening that was all about the issue of the importance of people’s mailboxes. It seems that the police, fire fighters and ambulance drivers are having a hard time finding and/or reading the addresses in the emergency situations that they find themselves involved in.

Since I live here on the farm alone, my sister is always concerned with my health and safety issues. She means well but sometimes she gets carried away and really gets on my last nerve. Looking at mail boxes just isn’t something high on my list these days, so I told her that she should consider purchasing one for me and use it as my Christmas present. She hasn’t replied to that email as of yet, but I’m sure I’ll be hearing from her soon.

School Days

It seems that they are starting school earlier and earlier each year. When I used to go to school it was always the day after Labor Day. But I’ve spoken with many parents who are telling me that their kids have all ready started school or are about too in the next week or two.

I think the way that they did it when I was going to school made more sense. It was constant and consistent, which made vacation plans an easier task to tackle.

Comfort Zone Camp

I watched a story on the news about a camp designed to help kids that have lost a loved one. Comfort Zone Camp is in 5 states and is working wonders for hundreds of kids each year. It is so good to see a good story on the news for once.

Yesterday was Father’s Day June 20 2010

Well, yesterday was Father’s Day.  Which meant another trip to the cemetery with another bouquet of flowers.  The weather was good, and I sat for a while, but not as long as last time.  In the past my Dad and I used to spend Father’s Day together fishing in the pond out in the back forty, so after staying a while in the cemetery I went back home, put on his fishing hat and shirt, grabbed his favorite fishing rod and went fishing.  He would have wanted that.  I didn’t catch anything, but that’s OK.  I would’ve released it anyway.

Cool Waters

It has been so hot these past couple of days, it’s been a real killer considering it is still only May. We have been told that since it was such a bad winter that a bad summer will follow. I think someone actually knew what they were talking about.

The farm animals have been miserable as well. I’ve been trying extra hard to keep plenty of cool water available to them as much as possible. And I’ve been washing the vehicles more than usual just to have the opportunity to get some relief with the cool waters that come out of the hose for myself in the mean time.

Tired

I’m getting so burnt out taking care of the farm and the old homestead that I not going to picky about anything the family wants to do about vacations and what not. I’ll just be grateful to get out of here and all the responsibilities that have been dished out for me this past year. I never thought that I’d find myself in this type of situation, but I’m giving it my best shot and trying to make the best of it. But all work and no play makes for a very tired old man!
