A Wrist Watch, Valentine’s Gift

It has been a few years since I’ve had a “sweet heart” to celebrate and buy gifts for on Valentine’s Day, which comes each and every year on February the 14th. But I do remember, years back, right out of high school, I had been dating the same girl for 3 years, things got pretty hot and heavy, marriage was discussed a few times, but it fizzled out and we broke it off, right after Valentine’s Day, and I had bought her a very nice watch, one of the well known Bulova watches, that she thoroughly enjoyed receiving on that day for lovers.

She always had an issue with being late, but never wore a watch, although she owned several of them, so I thought that a nice looking watch, presented to her with love on Valentine’s Day would encourage her to start wearing a wrist watch, therefore giving her the opportunity to get to places in a more timely fashion.

It was totally strange to run into her a few years back, she is now married with children, I noticed that she was still wearing that watch and she told me how she is still known as arriving late to the majority of her appointments and functions in her now extremely busy life with the kids and all that is involved with that lifestyle. Guess some people never change!

This two tone ladies Bulova watch is very similar to the one that she is hopefully still wearing to this day.

My oldest sister wants to take her husband and her son on Vacation to the Bahama’s and needs a little more extra cash to be able to do it on the date they would like to go. Unemployment Issues

My sister’s husband was laid off of his job a few weeks ago and at the time he thought that it wasn’t too big of a deal, thinking that he could find something by the end of that week. Well surprise, surprise, things are rough all over and they are by no means in this boat all by themselves.I hope that they get their unemployment check soon, because with kids you never know when you will need to haul them off to the doctor or the E.R. and those bills can add up quick and who needs that extra added worry? Mothers and dads have enough to worry about these days with the price of gas and food and everything else for that matter.

Did you know that changes at Facebook affected all of social networking? The article in the New York Times details the evolution of Facebook by it’s college grad founder, Mark Zuckerberg. Interestingly, he saw a shortcoming and created a way to overcome that. 1st Party at the Farm, Birthday Style

The celebrating of my nephew’s 1st birthday is in the planning stage, my sister is extremely excited about this event, she tried for so long to have a baby and is loving the whole experience of motherhood. She wants to hold the party here at the farm, in the spring, I believe the date is May 28th, a reallygood time to have an outside party, if the weather doesn’t interfere, the springtime rains do come and go as they please.

A farm barn and animal theme birthday party will do just fine, we have a few ponies here that we can give pony rides on, which is always a hit with the kids. Spring time brings with it new life with several of the farm animals here, there will be baby goats, cows, ducks, geese, pigs and hopefully a few colts or fillies will be gracing us with their company by that time. So we will have our own personal “petting zoo” for them to enjoy.

There hasn’t been a party around here for some time, it will be good to have a large group of friends and family around the place for the day, a lot of work, but worth the time and effort and I’m looking forward to it come spring.

Myspace Issues & Concerns

I have just recently discovered after a phone conversation with my sister that my niece of 12 had a Myspace page that I was unaware of, and she told me that there was a few girls that jumped another girl after meeting them on Myspace. What is this Myspace all about anyway? My niece tells me that Myspace is a fun way to meet new people and keep in touch with close friends, instead of using the phone or just simple e-mails. If it is so cool and so fun then why are there kids telling other kids to meet them somewhere and then beat them up. Bullies are ugly people and it seems like Myspace has a lot of bullies, why isn’t anyone doing anything about it?

Obama has two more days until the large plate of problems is handed over to him, and a large plate full it is. But he is hitting the ground running full speed ahead and shows no signs of slowing down for some time and we can only hope and pray that relief is on it’s way. Sister may be Relocating to the UK

Birmingham is a city and metropolitan borough in the West Midlands, England and one of my sisters and her husband have the opportunity to go there because it is known as “the workshop of the world” or the “city of a thousand trades” and her husband’s company is thinking of establishing them elves there in the near future. She and I both hope that she doesn’t end up having to relocate way over there, I mean it would be a great opportunity and all, but we would all miss her and the kids just so much!In the meantime while his company is busy finding the most affordable, but nice hotels in Birmingham, my sister is running frantic wondering what to do with the kids and all the things that entail going away for an adventure like this. She isn’t sure what the weather will be like and is thinking that this will call for a wardrobe over haul, that sounds like fun to me, she is in the position to do something drastic like that. Her hubby makes good money and he is eager to go over to the U.K. and get to know the kind of place that it is and meet the people that he is told are called “Brummies”, a term derived from the city’s nickname of Brum, he is eager to hear how they pronounce that term. He is told that there is a distinctive “Brummie” dialect and accent, both of which differ from those of the adjacent Black Country. The Black Country, sounds interesting enough!

Sea World in the Winter

My older sister has made arrangements to take her family to Sea World Orlando, Florida and is trying to talk me into going along for some much needed time away from the farm. As much as I would love to get away, I’m afraid that I don’t have anyone, at this point, who will be able to take over all of the duties here at the farm that are needed in order to survive each and everyday, morning, noon and night.

Sis went online and found a great deal that is giving her a 2nd day for free at Sea World and she jumped on the chance for a winter get a way in sunny Florida and having fun at the very popular Sea World. She went to OrlandoFunTickets.com where she found discounted tickets for sale and needs to know as soon as possible who all will be attending in order to take advantage of this 2nd free day offer.

As I said, I’d love to go, it sounds like a blast and all but the time just isn’t right for me at this point. It was nice of her to think of me and to try and do something nice, but everything has a time and a place and now isn’t the time. I’ve emailed her with my reply and have asked her take plenty of photos and videos to bring back. Then one day she can come over with the kids and share them with me in the near future. I don’t get much company around here and it is always good to see her and the kids, they often enjoy giving me a hand around the place during their visits which is always welcomed.

Over and Done With

Today is technically the last day of the holiday season for most of us, kids are returning to school tomorrow for the full week and the weather will be getting worse with each coming day. I managed to take a few hours yesterday afternoon and take the Christmas tree down and the few holiday decorations that were put out this year with the help of friends and family. They were not any fun putting up and certainly no fun in taking them down, I’m glad that I got through the holidays and that it is over and done with once and for all, at least until next year.

I am hoping that this year will be better than the last and I look forward to a year of hard work on the farm and hopefully a profit will be made due to my efforts.
