Skate Boarding Stories

After yesterday’s game, a few of us went for a few drinks, shot some pool and got caught up on what everyone was up to these days. I haven’t really been kept in the loop with these guys and was eager to hear all their stories and share a few laughs before heading back to the homestead once again.

With finance and the economy being the way it is today, life is becoming more and more difficult for so many of us, it was nice to just get away from all the “hot” topics that are being discussed each day, so we kept the conversations on the lighter side and no one even wanted to talk about politics and all the heart ache that we are all experiencing due to our governments wasteful overspending and the challenges that Obama now is facing.

My one pal, Doug has gotten totally into the sport of skateboarding and had several good stories that kept us entertained. He is looking to be in real good shape and he had kicked butt all day long during the earlier paintball games. Made all of us look bad in comparison.

Finding some spring projects to do with my kids

Guest post written by Alex Hunt

It’s always a big deal to get my kids to stay inside when it isn’t really warm enough for them to play outside. My kids are especially prone to colds, even though they eat well and take their vitamins, so I worry about them playing outside in colder weather. But it’s almost spring time and they’re a little more restless now because of it. So I’m trying to find some activities for them to do inside that are spring-y.

I thought that it would be really fun to try and make some birdhouses with the kids. While I was looking up some easy kids’ birdhouses directions I saw info regarding DEBT COUNSELING. As I was looking up some more info on it and how it would affect my family’s debt, I decided to use the counseling services.

I found all kinds of little birdhouse directions to make with the kids and I decided on the simplest one that I could find. Plus, it will be a lot more fun to actually paint the birdhouses than to just assemble them.

Cloth Napkins

I was watching a show a little while ago where they were talking about reducing your carbon footprint. I’m probably a little bit more interested in saving the planet than most of the people that I know, so I paid attention to the show to see if there was something I could do that I haven’t been doing to reduce our carbon footprint. They suggested using cloth napkins instead of paper napkins as much as possible.

Well, I’m really not sure exactly how much “energy” using cloth napkins will save because in my experience you have to wash and iron them. I’m thinking that the “energy” used to wash and iron them might be a larger carbon footprint than using paper napkins. What do you think?

Looked for It

I knew I needed to find a local internet provider GA to get online from home – work was riding me hard and I needed to work even after I left the office just to keep up. I work at a really young, fun company but your results are what get you promoted and some people had less of a life than I did so they were able to work late and make more results. That doesn’t sound like a big deal but for me it’s all about getting ahead before I’m married and have kids so I kicked it into high gear and set myself up a home office in the second bedroom. I love being able to kick back and watch my nightly shows WHILE I’m working and I’m lucky because my girlfriend waits tables so she’s out a lot at night. I don’t really mind putting in the extra hours as long as it’s going to get me somewhere at some point. Let’s just hope the big bosses notice my effort!

A Court Reporter In The Family

With so many jobs being taken away due to so many of today’s technologies that have taken the place of jobs that have previously been handled by “real people” I am so glad to know that Court Reporting is still being done by humans. For some reason I really thought that Court Reporters were a thing of the past, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found that one of my nieces was going to work as one come the first of the year. It’s not the career that I envisioned her getting into but it certainly isn’t a bad choice for her at this point in her life.

I have always been one to refuse using those self check out options at all of the grocery stores for various reasons. The main one is that I would not like to see our cashiers jobs taken away. Too many jobs have been lost over these past several years and it doesn’t look like many jobs are going to be opening up any time soon. I have to admit that I also enjoy having someone to talk with and do the work for me!

Oh baby

I appreciate the guest post, Vito Rivers

Well, we got a little surprise last month and now the secret is out. Our family of four (Rob and I plus the two furry rascals) is now going to be a family of five. Ya know, with another HUMAN in that equation. Yep, that’s right, we found out we’re expecting! It was a shock to say the least, but now that we’re over the fear that we’re irresponsible parents, we’re so, so excited. I have already started planning the nursery, picking out names, deciding on bedspreads and buying any Ralph Lauren baby clothes I see – boy or girl. Rob, on the other hand, has opened up a Roth IRA, called our ambit energy provider for a better energy rate to save money, cancelled his Sports Illustrated subscription, and has started thinking about what college the baby will go to with “his” basketball scholarship. Ha! Rob and I are both 5’5” with no athletic abilities, FYI. We’re obviously on the same page. What do YOU think we should be doing to prepare for this new little nugget?

Internet Shopping

My sister does a whole heck of a lot for me, all the time really. But one thing I draw the line on is her buying my underwear. Some things a man just has to do for himself and the purchasing of his underwear is on the top of the list. Now I can tell you that I do not like going shopping for a variety of reasons, the main one is that the closest town is over 30 miles away and that is a chunk of time taken away from my day, something I really can’t afford at this point. So I have been learning and enjoying doing the majority of my shopping online, right from the comfort of my own laptop.

Some things are easier to order online than others of course. But since I have been wearing the same size and the same brand of underwear for as long as I can remember, this should be easy enough to do. I’m sure I can find some good deals and I ALWAYS look for free shipping, that is the only way to fly on today’s World Wide Web.

Charity Comes From the Heart

My sister’s husband and his co-workers are always getting involved with some sort of community service or a fundraising activity. Like at Christmas, they all pitched in and adopted a local low income family to supply all kinds of goods to help them get through the Holiday Season easier and they say that you can always find a booklet or two or pamphlets in the break room for people to order things for some type of fundraising for their kids from school, church, or sports.

I think that it is a very good positive attitude to have when there are so many people out there that need help. Their latest approach is in a lupus fundraising attempt, in which they have gone “high tech” and have enlisted the assistance of the World Wide Web through a company called Firstgiving, the link to their home page being Firstgiving.com. Firstgiving makes it possible for anybody to raise money on-line for any cause that they see fit to. You actually go on-line and make your own on-line fundraising page that can then be emailed to people to enlist them into giving an on-line donation. I find this whole idea fascinating and couldn’t wait to bring it up on our PC at home. And when I did bring up the site I really was impressed with what I saw, and I would encourage anybody to check it out also, it is a site that is full of good positive things, we need more of these, don’t you agree.

The reason for choosing this horrible disease by the name of Lupus, apparently is because one of the top management guys has a teen-age daughter inflicted with this health issue and he is very popular with all of the workers and they want to show him their respect by coordinating this fundraiser because of his daughter. I wish them all the luck in the world and give them nothing less than respect that they so highly deserve for their efforts.

The Price of Oil Is All About Today’s Investors

I was surprised to stumble on to a site that talks, explains and give good solid advice on today’s day trading oil issues. To be honest I had no idea that investors play such a key role in the price of oil that we have become so dependent on in our daily lives. Millions of investors are buying and selling oil contracts and the whole thing sounds like a whole lot of extreme risks that should be left to the experts and not the novice trader. So with that in mind, I’m glad I found this site (Daytradingcenter.net)that gave me such insight on this issue that is so controversy and complicated and I would urge anyone to give it a read and find out for themselves what this oil business is all about. Very enlightening indeed.

New And Improved Park and Playground In The Works

I’m so glad to see that they are finally go start to fix up the park and playground that I have been visiting all my life and spent many years as a young boy playing at. It has deteriorated so badly the last decade or so that it was becoming a safety hazard and an eye sore for way too long. I know that there has been a lot of cut backs but something like this just can’t be left to rot for heaven’s sake.

I hear that they have ordered new playground equipment for the kids to play on as well as new Park Benches and Picnic Tables as well for families to us and enjoy. I am assuming that they will be using the new rubberized playground equipment which is so much than the old wooden equipment that was used back in my day. Can’t tell you how many splinters we all got from that junky old rotten wood. Today’s kids don’t know how good they have it, I can tell you that!

They plan on having everything ready, good to go for next spring. We will see if they manage to hit that target date or not.
