Save Time and Money, Shop Online

We really have become a society that expects and demands instant gratification in so many ways. We have gotten to where when we find we need or want something we run right out and get it as quick a we can in order to move on to the next thing. With us growing up and living out on a farm, things move a little slower, but by having the Internet available makes it possible to speed things up just a bit and save us money along the way.

Since money is so tight everywhere alot of folks are starting to take a step back and look around for the best deal on many of the items and services that we require and have become accustomed to, before just jumping in with both feet and buying the first thing available. There are numerous websites devoted to finding deals and one of my favorite ones to check out before buying anything is http://www.savings.com. It is very easy to use and has a wide variety of ways to save money for online shoppers. This site has an “Ask, Answer & Save” page that provides you with answers from their community of deal experts to your questions that you submit, which is pretty cool. There is also a blog that you can read for useful information on savings as well.

Before I purchase anything these days I take some time to look around for the best deal that I can find. Online shoppers have so many ways to save money, the first thing I look for is free shipping, that in itself is a money saver. With gas prices once again on the rise, I don’t want to go into town for anything that I don’t have to.

Wonderful Rain Chains For Mother’s Day

I have the perfect gift to give some one like my late-mother for Mother’s Day or any other gift giving holiday would be good as well. I’ve never seen one before, although I’ve heard the term “chains rain” before. But as I was mindlessly surfing the net earlier this evening I was looking at some rain barrels that would come in handy around here, when I came across a site that sells the most wonderful looking rain chains. My mother would have loved the umbrella one and my old man would have really enjoyed the fish rain chain, both of which I’ve posted a picture of below so you can see how cool these babies are.

There are plenty more rain chains on the website that I found these at. Rainchainlink.com offers Free Shipping on all their orders, they also have a link to some pretty nice looking unique rain barrells that I was eye balling as well. Since we didn’t have much snow this winter we are being told that we can look forward to another summer that we have to watch our water supply and possibly have to comply with mandatory water restrictions like we have had to do on and off for the past decade or so.

Right now we may be sick of all the rain, but it is helping with some water issues that are literally right around the corner.

Gas Money

Today the sign, at the Sheetz that I go to, is saying that gas is now $3.49 a gallon for unleaded. It cost me $84 to fill up the tank in the “Farm Use Only” pick up truck that I had to drive to town in order to run some errands that needed tending to before the weekend began. This isn’t getting any better any time soon, I’m afraid. With the coming of spring and summer we go through a lot of gas around this place, this isn’t sounding promising at all folks.

Speaking of Spring!

I don’t know if you have had a bad winter or not but it has not been very pleasant around here, that’s for sure.  You would not believe how stupid I acted the other day at just the sight of a Robin.

Robins are a sign that spring is on it’s way to me.  Then to top it all off, I found some crocus in bloom and my daffodils up under some leaves that had blown in my yard.  I can’t wait for spring!!!  Bet you can’t either, huh?  Come on warm weather!!

Hansen Wholesale offers Guaranteed Lowest Prices on ALL Gas logs by R. H. Peterson

Been thinking about  turning to Gas Logs sometime in the near future. From what I can tell R. H. Peterson Real Fyre Gas Logs are right up there on top and that they have a great website with a lot of good information to take in on the subject. So I’ve been taking a gander around the Robert H. Peterson gas logs site to find out more about the world of Vented Gas Logs and Ventless Gas Logs, I didn’t know that there would be such a variety to choose from and many things that are factored into the decision of which way to go. But I’m sure that Hansen Wholesale is the place that I’m going to be purchasing my choice from.

This old farm house is going to be needing upgrades in so many areas and I can only do such much with so little time and money, but if I keep on steady like I might be able to see and feel a difference and feel good about what I’ve been putting so much blood, sweat and tears into. It’s not like it’s a money pit, my parents took real good care of the place but it is old and it needs to be kept on top of so it doesn’t start going downhill because that can turn into a real nightmare.

WebHostingBuzz

A good New Year’s Resolution to adhere to these days is to try and make a better effort to become as “green” as humanly possible. Living on a farm most of my life I have learned many ways to help our Mother Earth in various ways. The good lord knows that we have been into recycling before it was the “in” thing to do. We have always tried hard to replace anything that we have taken from the land and have been open to ideas and suggestions.

One thing that we can all do is give our business to companies that are doing their part in the “green movement”. Did you know that there are website hosting companies that are making a huge effort and are doing wonderful things in order to participate in these practices. WebHosting Buzz is doing a tremendous job with their efforts. You can read more about them here at http://www.webhostingfan.com/reviews/webhostingbuzz-web-hosting-review/.

I’d like to really encourage as many folks as possible to check this out and see if they would be willing to switch over to a web host that is doing things such as WebHostingBuzz is doing. You can find reviews and ratings as well as a lot more information on a ton of web hostings at webhostingfan.com.

Credit Issues

Who would have thought that our credit report would have so much impact on our daily lives? I used to think that credit was only important if you wanted to buy a house. But over the years I have learned that credit affects buying a car, getting credit cards, and even getting life insurance. So I decided to find a place that could help and discovered  The Credit People have a web site with lots of good information.

There are web sites to help people with credit repair service as well as giving information to people just learning about credit and getting started, such as new college grads and even people newly widowed who never handled money before. I’m hoping that this type of information might help some one else out in their time of need and these are certainly needy times that we have gotten ourselves in.

My credit got all messed up a few years back, before my parents passed away and I took over the farm and house. I haven’t had the extra time or energy to deal with credit issues but due to my sister’s urging I have been looking around a bit online researching the different “Repair Your Bad Credit” options and offers that are out there today. You can imagine how much easier the Internet makes this task for me. The last thing I need is to be tangled up with numerous phone calls or playing phone tag throughout my busy day.

I have managed to pay off most of my credit card bills, but there are still two of them that have some pretty high balances on them, with some pretty steep interest rates being charged each month. I’ll be able to breath a bit easier once they are done and over with, and I’m so looking forward to that day.

Too Pooped To Pop

I have a good friend that is confirmed bachelor just as I am. But where I am pretty quiet and laid back he is pretty wild and crazy and considers himself to be one of the best pick up artist in town. Me, I don’t even know how to text a girl with a pick up line and not sound like a complete idiot much less looking at one right in the eye and spewing out some outrageously witty line in an attempt to get her undivided attention.

I generally just go up and introduce myself, offer to buy her a drink (if at a bar) and hope that my smile gets to her in a positive way in an attempt to hook up with nice and interesting female. Not that I have a lot of time to spend bar hopping these days. There is always so much work to be done around here, come night time I’m usually wiped out and not in any mood to clean up, dress up and go up town for an evening out on the town. A quick dinner and a nice hot shower is more my speed then an hour or so on the computer before kicking back on the sofa for some television, if I can find something decent to watch, works out well for this tired and lonely puppy.

Strange Housekeeping Tips

Can You Relate, I Certainly Can:

Tomorrow I will do the housework, NO EXCUSES!!! (unless they’re good ones)

 1. It is time to clean out the refrigerator when something closes the door from the inside.

 2. If it walks out of your refrigerator, let it go!

 3. The best mini-vac for an after meal clean up is the dog.

 4. Keep it clean enough for healthy, dirty enough for happy.

 5. Never make fried chicken in the nude.

 6. Do not engage in unarmed combat with a dust bunny big enough to choke the vacuum cleaner.

 7. You make the beds, you do the dishes, and six months later you have to start all over again.

 8. If guys were suppose to hang clothes up, door knobs would be bigger.

 9. My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance.

 11. Simplify… hire a maid.

12: My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being Hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.

 13. I’m not going to vacuum ’til Sears makes one you can ride on.

  14. Cobwebs artfully draped over lampshades reduce the glare from the bulb, thereby creating a romantic atmosphere. If your husband points out that thelight fixtures need dusting, simply look affronted and exclaim, “What? And spoil the mood?”

 15. When writing your name in the dust on the table, omit the date.

The Big Rescue

My nephew called me late last night needing to be picked up in town. Anything after 8:30pm is late around this place and this phone call came in at 10:05pm and I was stupid enough to answer the darn phone. My nephew and I don’t necessarily get along so he was really desperate to lower himself to call me to rescue him knowing that I have to get up early to take care of the farm and all.

But family is family and that is what family is for. So it made for a late night but all is well that ends well.
