The Circle of Life

Since I grew up on a farm, I learned at a young age how to hunt, and all about the “circle of life,” as they put it. It was instilled upon us all how important the treatment of animals were, along with the need to use God’s creatures as a way to keep us alive with their meat, as well as their hides and other body parts for many other necessary usages.

We grew up with many fire arms around and learned how to shoot and clean each weapon along the knowledge of which was used for what reasons. I didn’t get to do much hunting this fall, due to all of the work that is now placed on me and me alone around the farm, but I did manage to go twice and I did bring home some nice venison to eat during the winter months. It had been a while since I had gone hunting, but I enjoyed getting away from all the daily duties around the place, and was glad that the time spent away from the place was productive, and not all just entertainment.

Dating Issues Today

I may sound old-fashioned but I just talked with my youngest sister about this and she says that I’m too conservative. But I really feel strongly that when a guy asks a girl out on the first date, when the bill arrives it should be the guy that pays. It’s just the thing to do to make her feel special and his best chance to impress his date.On later dates and different circumstances, if the girl agrees in advance to go “dutch” then that’s OK. But the first date is all about impressing the other person, and a guy who comes off as broke or cheap just isn’t going to make the cut.

2012

It seems that all the talk is about how the end of the world is coming this December. Personally I don’t believe such nonsense and even if it is true there isn’t a darned thing anyone can do about it. We all just need to keep on keeping on and hope for the best.

Today I found this interesting video about the Mayans, who are being held responsible for a lot of this scary stuff going around because of their calendar ending this December, so I wanted to share it here.

Skate Boarding Stories

After yesterday’s game, a few of us went for a few drinks, shot some pool and got caught up on what everyone was up to these days. I haven’t really been kept in the loop with these guys and was eager to hear all their stories and share a few laughs before heading back to the homestead once again.

With finance and the economy being the way it is today, life is becoming more and more difficult for so many of us, it was nice to just get away from all the “hot” topics that are being discussed each day, so we kept the conversations on the lighter side and no one even wanted to talk about politics and all the heart ache that we are all experiencing due to our governments wasteful overspending and the challenges that Obama now is facing.

My one pal, Doug has gotten totally into the sport of skateboarding and had several good stories that kept us entertained. He is looking to be in real good shape and he had kicked butt all day long during the earlier paintball games. Made all of us look bad in comparison.

College Games

My old college roommates have been trying to get me to join them in a paintball game sometime really soon. We used to have a great time together when we were in college playing paintball on a regular basis. It was great exercise and loads of fun! After the game we would go to the local pub for a bite to eat and hang out and party the rest of the evening.

I’m not even sure where my old paintball equipment is nowadays; I think I lost it along the way. If I’m going to get involved in playing again I’m going to have to think about buying it. The Ultimate Paintball store at pntball.com website is where I’ll be going to buy my new equipment if I decide to take the plunge and get back into it. They have free shipping and the best prices on the Internet. I see that the tippmann a5 set is on sale at half price right now, so that is a pretty strong incentive to pick it up now!

Most Modern Convenience

Guest post written by Derick Burks

It’s amazing to me how far technology has come just in the last few years. It wasn’t that long ago that my social calendar revolved around when my favorite shows came on television. Nights out required leaving after my favorites from early in the evening came on or rushing home to catch the new episode of must see late night tv. Now with today’s technology I can watch whatever I want whenever I want—I just set my dvr. Normally I set my dvr to record the full series of shows I want to watch but every once in a while there is something special and usually I remember to set the dvr. I say usually because every once in a while I will be out and my wife will ask if I recorded something and I will realize I forgot. It was always a disappointment—until now! I went to www.Expertsatellite.com and downloaded the dvr scheduler app for my smart phone and voila! we are in business. I can now set my dvr from anywhere, even for those shows I didn’t know about that come up in conversations at dinner parties! I wonder what conveniences they will come up with next!

An Anxious Boat Enthusiast

These wonderful High Intensity Discharge lights that they have available these days are a truly a most useful tool, especially for boaters that find themselves in need of a good lighting system, such as my brother-in-law found himself in just the other day.

He had received some nice HID boat spotlights, by Magnalight for Christmas and some other boating accessories as well, that he was very anxious to try out and did, on a day that most people wouldn’t venture onto the water on, but as I stated he was a bit anxious. He got a late start and ended up out farther than he calculated on and it got dark quickly on him and he ended up losing his way, all alone, wet and cold. A good thing that he is an experienced water man because it could have ended up real ugly.

He certainly got the opportunity to use his newly acquired spotlight and got home safe and sound, just his ego was bruised a bit, but he has a sense of humor and has made a good entertaining story out of the whole deal that will be told for years to come.

Plus Size Clothing

The holidays are so hard on us since our parents left this world over 3 years ago now and it is always a struggle to please everyone in the family trying to accommodate each others wants, needs and feelings. My eldest sister has basically taken on the task of having the Christmas family dinner at her place, while others have been taking turns holding the Thanksgiving dinner and festivities at their homes, which so far has worked out fairly well.

For all my of eldest sister’s hard work I always try and buy her a present that she really likes and needs and will utilize instead of just some junky gift that was purchased with little or no thought involved. So I have been looking at some nice plus size clothing online, trying to find her something that she will be able to wear to church on Sunday mornings. She takes a lot of pride in her hair, make-up and her clothes so I have to be careful to make sure that my choice is spot on, and returnable if needed.

New And Improved Park and Playground In The Works

I’m so glad to see that they are finally go start to fix up the park and playground that I have been visiting all my life and spent many years as a young boy playing at. It has deteriorated so badly the last decade or so that it was becoming a safety hazard and an eye sore for way too long. I know that there has been a lot of cut backs but something like this just can’t be left to rot for heaven’s sake.

I hear that they have ordered new playground equipment for the kids to play on as well as new Park Benches and Picnic Tables as well for families to us and enjoy. I am assuming that they will be using the new rubberized playground equipment which is so much than the old wooden equipment that was used back in my day. Can’t tell you how many splinters we all got from that junky old rotten wood. Today’s kids don’t know how good they have it, I can tell you that!

They plan on having everything ready, good to go for next spring. We will see if they manage to hit that target date or not.

Today’s Music

My other nephew has just hit the teen years of his life and has changed from the cute little boy that loved Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers, into a total rebel against anyone and everyone. A big part of this change in him, I believe has to do with the music he had been introduced to by his older brother, which is mainly Rap.

I don’t understand why parents let their kids listen to music that promotes disrespect to most women and then expect them to stick with innocence. We should all try to make a difference in this matter, or else our newest generation will live life with the wrong outlook on what life is really about and live in a fantasy or dream world for most of their lives.
