Lap Band

Scrubs For Today’s Fashion Conscience Medical Professionals

Surfing the net I ended up at a site that offers a wide variety of surgical scrubs for sale. We all have been seeing a lot more folks wearing some unique scrubs that have come on the market these past few years. The days of our medical personnel only wearing  those awful white medical lab coats are long over with. Today’s fashion conscience medical professionals are now sporting some pretty cool uniforms that helps them express themselves more and more.

Pea Coats

I should have known that Pea Coats and other military outer wear would be making a come back. They say that all that is old becomes new again and that usually holds true all though I’m not sure when we will be seeing the roaring twenty dresses that the Can Can and Black Bottom dancers used to wear. That would be a sight to see on the streets in this day and age!

I remember back in the 70’s when I just had to have a Pea Coat and my mother searched high and low trying to find me one and she ended up having to go to an Army/Navy surplus store to find one, but she found one and I wore it proudly for years and years. I’m not sure where it ended up at, most likely it got donated to a thrift store, since my mother never tossed anything out.

This year I would like another Pea Coat and have found several at Zappos.com. Zappos.com has always had wonderful selections from various well known manufacturers. Right now I have my eyes on a nice looking French Connection Dawson Coat and I plan on sending the link to several people that have been asking me for gift suggestions for my birthday.

Obesity Statistics, Eating Us Alive

The Obesity Statistics are a major concern right now. We have become a population of over eaters and the cost of the related medical care is eating us alive. I realize that most of the people I know are dealing with weight issues.  Being overweight and suffering from those complications are weighing heavily on their mind as well as their bodies. I’m so glad that the “fat gene” isn’t abundant in my family. To be honest, there are a few family members who could stand to lose a few pounds, nothing major though, ten to twenty pounds, tops.

Burlap For The Dining Room Table

One of the many touches that my mother had around the old homestead was the amount and usage of burlap. In just about any of the rooms in this house had something burlap in it. Some people collect unicorns, but my mother collected many things. One of them being burlap.

I came across a fitted faux washable burlap tablecloth on line this morning and it took everything that I had not to immediately order one. I mean the price was right and I do believe that it would great on the dining room table, but I have bigger things and items that are waiting for me to get around to.

I have bookmarked the site for further reference. Who knows maybe if I put it on my Christmas wish list, I just might find it under the Christmas tree this year. It might help if I tell people that is one of the items that I would love to receive. Lord knows I don’t need any cookies, candies, slippers or a new tie! Burlap would be wonderful compared to some of the yearly presents that are purchased and given with out any thought or consideration.

Med Students

My neighbor called this morning in a panic and asked if I could please drive her and her teen-aged daughter to the hospital. She didn’t want to call an ambulance, but she had no transportation until her husband got home late tonight with the family car. Of course I agreed to drive her. Her daughter looked very pale and sweaty and I was very concerned for her health. I suspected heat exhaustion – but it could have been something even worse.

We got o the hospital quickly and without incident and I helped them get in the ER entrance. She asked me to not bother staying at the hospital – she just need the ride to get there. That is not the way I was raised – I felt a duty to go inside and make sure she would be treated and taken care of – not just drop someone off and drive away. I don’t care how many white lab coat doctors, med students and nurses were milling about – I needed to know that she would be seen.

It has been a couple of years since I’ve even seen a lab coat or pair of scrubs anywhere. Thankfully I’ve been healthy and not been around hospitals much. In fact, the last time I saw anyone in scrubs is when I went online and ordered a Halloween costume for my nephew, who wanted to go trick or treating dressed as a med student flunky, with fake blood smeared all over his shirt and gloves.

Today’s technologies are simply brilliant these days, with state of the art facilities and products available while all becoming more affordable we now have the ability to do just about anything to anyone as we please. The medical field is a fascinating field, one that is growing faster then most of us can keep up with. I enjoying the various television shows that are centered around the medical field. House has become one of my favorite shows as of late, an interesting program, as well as entertaining, to say the least.

Sterling Silver Jewelry

It used to be that you had to go to a flea market to get a good deal on sterling silver jewelry and other such items that now a days you can go online and find good deals on. I still enjoy going to flea markets now and then, but most of them are full of used baby items and junk that you can find at the dollar store. I have no use for any of that type of stuff.

Once in a while you can find a dealer that has some good quality items at a great price, but that seems to be a rare occasion now a days.

Nemo Tents and Sleep Systems

For many years, more than I wish to confess to, I have been wanting to go out with some friends and go hiking, camping and fishing like the good ol’ days, but had just been too tied down with work and spending time with loved ones. This year I felt was a brand new year, and was a perfect time for me to get out there and so something I had always wanted to do.

Like I said before I had been wanting to go camping for a long while, and I found myself scavenging my garage for supplies and camping gear I needed to go. I found so many things I used to use while camping, but couldn’t find my tent I used to use. While searching for it, I realized my tent is very out of date and probably needs an upgrade even if I did come across it.

I took a night to sit in the office and just search around the net for some good deals on tents. I came across a nemo tent sale, and had found great deals on all types of tents, but the one that stood out to me the most was a 3 season tent, something I’ve always wanted to own. I ordered it right away and had it shipped to my home, and in no time at all I was camping out by the lake the following weekend. I am so grateful to have found such a sturdy tent to spend many of nights in while by the camp fire enjoying nature.

Magnetic Name Badges

The word at my sister’s work is that they are ordering a magnetic name badge for everyone to wear and folks aren’t all that thrilled with the idea. It will be helpful for their customers/clients but a drag for them to have to keep remembering to wear them and not losing them. Unfortunately you gotta do what you gotta do these days to keep the boss man happy. They way I look at it, it certainly could be a lot worse, they could be receiving pink slips and jobs aren’t easy to come by these days.
