GREEN Rubber Mulch – The Way To Go Folks

What can I say? When I think of mulch, rubber is the last thing that comes to my mind. But apparently there is a new fangled type of mulch that is being manufactured out of old tires by a company called Rubberecycle. This is the same company that provided the White House with the playground that the Obama’s daughters and their lucky play mates get to play on. I’m assuming that when a new president moves into the White House that the playground will stay right where it is, but who knows what the future will bring when that takes place when all of that comes about. But for now it is good to know that the Obamas are doing their part in going green in numerous ways that are all good to know about.

This particluar company offers several products that are long lasting, safe and extremely environment friendly, not to mention economical. I would urge anyone to check out their website of rubberecycle.com and see all that they are about. If I had kids and was looking into having a playground for them to enjoy I would certainly be interested in having this company come out and see what they could come up with for them. We all want our kids to spend time outside having fun, but safety is a big concern, right? The numbers are startling when it comes to injuries that occur on playgrounds all across the country, nothing new really, just more media attention is taking place on the subject these days. I know that I would feel like a real dog if one of my kids or one of their friends or another member of family’s kid got hurt on something that I paid for and allowed them to play on. So it sounds like this rubber mulch is the way to go folks, if you have the need.

Honda Shopping

Talking with my buddy, Dean, about the high cost of repairing cars and even just keeping up with the maintenance on older cars. It seems like every time I have to take my car in for service work it costs me between $800 and $2,500 – and that is killing my budget. At some point I have to quit spending on this money on repairs and just go get a new car. I have been shopping online for a new Honda and I think that’s what I am going to buy.

Dean was telling me that he talked with a local Honda dealer and couldn’t get a good deal working with that salesman, so he went online and started searching for a Honda Dealer that had a good inventory of new and used cars, ho wanted to set a fair price and give him a good deal on the car. It’s not that hard to save some serious money if you are willing to put in the time shopping around and asking questions of the right people.

I might end up with a late model, used Honda before the summer is over. I just need to get a good price on the car and a fair allowance on a trade in and I will buy a car this year. It’s just a matter of how much and when it all works out to my advantage.

Lazy Man’s Sale Strategy

Yesterday’s newspaper had the normal chunk of sale fliers and brochures, which is one big reason I continue to subscribe to the newspaper. I want to see the sale prices and new items being cried by the local stores. There is no online source that is as informative and focused on my local met than the Sunday newspaper.

But a new item was stuffed in with the other ads. A big blue folder from Wal Mart. It says something to the effect of, “we’ll match any other store’s price on the same merchandise if we carry it, just put the other company’s sale flier in this folder an bring it with you to WalMart.”

Now, isn’t that the lazy man’s ideal way to put stuff on sale? Don’t bother paying for the models and photo shoot, the graphic designers, printers and dozens, if not hundreds, of other people who make their living producing and distributing sale ads. Just let someone else pay for all that and you just wave your arm and say, I’ll match that price.

This is exactly why WalMart is perceived as so evil to the businesses in America. They put people out of work and then expect them to come to their store and buy things.

Netflix

My sister gave me a Netflix coupon that I just activated, last night, that just gave me one month’s worth of movies for free. I don’t have a lot of time for movie watching, but when I do have the time to sit down and enjoy some TV time it will be nice to be able to pick something that I really want to watch and to be able to watch it when I want to.  There are tons of movies and TV shows to choose from, more than I expected to find. So for the next month I’ll be catching up on as many movies as I ca

Save Time and Money, Shop Online

We really have become a society that expects and demands instant gratification in so many ways. We have gotten to where when we find we need or want something we run right out and get it as quick a we can in order to move on to the next thing. With us growing up and living out on a farm, things move a little slower, but by having the Internet available makes it possible to speed things up just a bit and save us money along the way.

Since money is so tight everywhere alot of folks are starting to take a step back and look around for the best deal on many of the items and services that we require and have become accustomed to, before just jumping in with both feet and buying the first thing available. There are numerous websites devoted to finding deals and one of my favorite ones to check out before buying anything is http://www.savings.com. It is very easy to use and has a wide variety of ways to save money for online shoppers. This site has an “Ask, Answer & Save” page that provides you with answers from their community of deal experts to your questions that you submit, which is pretty cool. There is also a blog that you can read for useful information on savings as well.

Before I purchase anything these days I take some time to look around for the best deal that I can find. Online shoppers have so many ways to save money, the first thing I look for is free shipping, that in itself is a money saver. With gas prices once again on the rise, I don’t want to go into town for anything that I don’t have to.

A Skiers Paradise

I appreciate the guest post, Jewel Rodgers

Winter Park, Colorado is truly a skier’s paradise. With virtually no lift lines and a mountain that boasts mogul skiing at it’s best, this is a favorite spot of mine.

Once I load up the skies and dogs, set the home security alarm (home Alarm systems prices) and head west, I always find time to stop at Beau Jo’s pizza in Idaho Springs on the way. They have the best pizza and it’s a Colorado tradition. My drive continues up Berthold Pass (which can be dicey so check the weather reports) and back down into Winter Park. It’s an old skiers town. There’s nothing fancy here. No fur coats, no expensive accomodations, just the awesome mountain and a ton of snow! I like to go directly to Mary Jane. This is the mogul mountain. After a day skiing the bumps I’ll hop back over to the base of Winter Park and enjoy some groomed runs. Everyone is friendly and happy in Winter Park. There’s no pretense of anything fancy. We are all there to conquer the same thing…the mountain.

Cake Boss

I can’t believe that I have been watching the new TV show on TLC, Cake Boss. It isn’t normally the type of show that I would enjoy watching, but I do like cake! The show is about a large extended 2nd generation Italian family that runs a very busy and well known bakery in New Jersey. The owner is an inspiring baker that enjoys making the most outrageous cakes that people request from and pay dearly for and it is all filmed and narrated, an enjoyable hour to watch some times when there isn’t all that much on anywhere else.

The Dog Whisperer On Satellide TV

Thanks for the post from Stan Atkins

When I get the chance, I like to sit down and watch the Dog Whisperer on satellite tv. This is one of my favorite shows because I like dogs and want to know as much as I can about them. Cesar Milan works with dogs that other people would often give up on. I like that.

Casar can take a dog that is aggressive and make it into a good house pet in no time flat. There have been cases where he was unable to accomplish that right in the home of the person he was trying to help, but he didn’t give up on the dog.

Cesar has a place where he can take renegade dogs and introduce them to his pack of dogs. Most of these dogs were renegades too and with his help they have become good canine citizens who get along well with the others.

What Cesar does during his show is teach people the nature of dogs. This alone is a great way to help them learn how to train their own dogs. Once you know the way dogs think, you can do much more with them. He instructs the dog owners not to treat their pet dog like children because they interpret that as weakness and they will then try to take over the position of alpha in the pack.
