Facebook, a Social Network

Did you know that changes at Facebook affected all of social networking? The article in the New York Times details the evolution of Facebook by it’s college grad founder, Mark Zuckerberg. Interestingly, he saw a shortcoming and created a way to overcome that. Thus the concept of news feed and Twitter was invented.Read the details of the New York Times article, “Brave New World of Digital Intimacy” by clicking here. It is interesting to realize that we are living in an Internet age while its very history is being made.

Online Savings for JCPenney

As much as I like to do a good amount of my shopping online, since a drive into town takes me away from the farm for too long for me to feel comfortable with, I do at times drive into town, mainly for groceries and gas needs. We do have a mall in town, pretty small in comparison to the big city ones that are multi leveled with scads of retail chains galore. I really am not a mall going person, I don’t like crowds, too many unruly and unchaperoned kids hanging about, looking for trouble and I try my best to stay away from going there as much as possible.

JCPenney has been an anchor department store there for as long as I can remember, my mother bought most of our school clothes from Penneys, and had a credit card with them that she was very proud of having and using. So I continue to purchase many things from JCPenney and am glad that they have JCPenney coupons available for their online shoppers, such as myself, it is all about saving precious dollars at this point, and shopping online saves time and money all the way around.

Spring Break is Near

Students these days have so many options for celebrating and partying on their up and coming spring break vacations. With spring right around the corner, plans are now being made by most high school and college kids for this annual event. The Internet has made this process so much easier by providing us with sites that allow you to plan the entire trip online. You can now take care of air fair, car rentals, hotel/motel reservations and numerous spectacular party packages to enjoy all over the U.S. and surrounding areas.

Things have certainly changed since my days of spring break festivities, but most things have changed dramatically, due to the availability of the Internet to the general public to use, for just about anything these days.

One Hundred Thousand Tons of Trash!

The news is telling us that one hundred thousand tons of trash was left on the grounds after the Presidential Inauguration festivities were over and done with. The is a extremely large number, and it really bothers me that people would have left so much behind for the city to pick up and dispose of. Most of the items where paper related products and could have been recycled, can you imagine how much room  all of that will take up in the landfill? Disturbing news to read, but I’m glad that I wasn’t one of the people responsible to trashing the place that day or responsible for cleaning it up for that matter.

Went to See Iron Man

I’ve been a big fan of Marvel Comics Super Heroes, and I enjoy going to see the movies based on the characters when they come out.  A friend of mine and I went to see the Iron Man movie last night, at the $2 theater in town.  The movie was awesome!  Iron Man rocketed me away throughout the whole movie.

I don’t know any character that could have played Iron Man any better than Robert Downy Jr.  There was talk that Nicholas Cage might play the lead of the Iron Man movie when I first heard about it but Downy really took the character all the way.  I can’t wait to see the second one that comes out!

1st Party at the Farm, Birthday Style

The celebrating of my nephew’s 1st birthday is in the planning stage, my sister is extremely excited about this event, she tried for so long to have a baby and is loving the whole experience of motherhood. She wants to hold the party here at the farm, in the spring, I believe the date is May 28th, a reallygood time to have an outside party, if the weather doesn’t interfere, the springtime rains do come and go as they please.

A farm barn and animal theme birthday party will do just fine, we have a few ponies here that we can give pony rides on, which is always a hit with the kids. Spring time brings with it new life with several of the farm animals here, there will be baby goats, cows, ducks, geese, pigs and hopefully a few colts or fillies will be gracing us with their company by that time. So we will have our own personal “petting zoo” for them to enjoy.

There hasn’t been a party around here for some time, it will be good to have a large group of friends and family around the place for the day, a lot of work, but worth the time and effort and I’m looking forward to it come spring.

The Reinventing Of America

Interesting insights concerning many Reinventing America ideas and insights can be found online at Ubercool.com. and with the Presidential Inauguration still scheduled for tomorrow, there is lots to talk about, and many thoughts to ponder on.

Willie Nelson, He’s the Man

The TV was on the Country Cable channel and I happened to catch the new Willie Nelson music video. It was a hoot! It shows a lot of movie stars hanging out at Willie’s ranch in Texas and they have their annual lawnmower race. Willie has so much property out their, that he constructed a whole western town like a movie set, with a main street, a saloon, and other buildings. He gave the “town” the name of “Luck, TX”The song is “You Don’t Think I’m Funny Any More.” I don’t know what that has to do with lawnmower races, but the video is really funny and I wish I could have been there.

Willie has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember, I was never a country music fan but for some reason Willie I could listen to for hours on end.

Myspace Issues & Concerns

I have just recently discovered after a phone conversation with my sister that my niece of 12 had a Myspace page that I was unaware of, and she told me that there was a few girls that jumped another girl after meeting them on Myspace. What is this Myspace all about anyway? My niece tells me that Myspace is a fun way to meet new people and keep in touch with close friends, instead of using the phone or just simple e-mails. If it is so cool and so fun then why are there kids telling other kids to meet them somewhere and then beat them up. Bullies are ugly people and it seems like Myspace has a lot of bullies, why isn’t anyone doing anything about it?
