Online Schools

One thing that is very important for young people to do is to ensure that they receive the best education they can get. Having a degree will help them advance their careers and rise in the company they work for. Whenever I hire someone, the first thing I look for is that they have the proper degrees to show they have completed their training. A good education could mean the difference in the quality of their lives.

Whenever you start your education, it’s good to find out all you can about what is going on. I found a good source of information in a paper that is called The Chronicle. It contains general education news as well as facts about the careers you may be entering. I like the fact that there are people who can help you keep up with the latest news.

One school that I particularly like is called Walden University. This school is on the leading edge of education. You can earn the higher degrees that are needed to succeed. Another bonus about the school is that you can do it online. This makes it convenient for those with busy schedules. I know that many people must hold a job while going to school and this is a great way to do it.

Houses and Homes

When it comes to a house, there are many important parts. Of course we think of walls and a roof and doors and windows. There are some parts to a house that are often overlooked. One thing that is really important is your mail box. Even though this item is not always technically part of your house, its one thing that makes your house a home.

We started trying to improve our home by doing some remodeling and other repairs. The one thing that we were missing was that personal touch that would make our house stand out from the rest. I began looking at mail boxes as a way to add a touch of class to our home. I thought it would be a great way to show our character.

I asked the opinion of everyone in the house. The wife and kids all chipped in and made suggestions as to the type of mailbox we should have. It was fun having everyone interested in our new little project. After much debate, we finally decided which one would fit our home the best. Now that our new box is installed, it’s nice to see it when I pull into the driveway. It’s worked out very well for us and we are all proud of the way it looks. It’s funny how a little thing can make a house a home!

Newlyweds

The good news is that my daughter was recently married. The bad news is that she will be leaving town with her new husband. The newlywed couple is moving to Connecticut and they will be starting a new life together there. We will all miss seeing them on a regular basis, but it’s what they want to do. We thought we would try to make the transition as smooth as possible.

I always say that being protected is a good thing. That’s why I wanted to ensure they had adequate Connecticut home insurance. I started by looking on the internet for a reliable company to provide them with it. I found a company named Paradiso that had the insurance coverage we wanted. I liked the way the site was set up as it was affordable and easy to access. I felt good knowing I could help.

Since I was on the site and things were looking good, I decided to check out the other insurance options they had. I checked out their Connecticut auto insurance as well as the Connecticut annuities they had available. Things are looking up for them and I am satisfied that they will be protected from financial disaster. It can be hard to be a dad, but good companies like this make life so much easier.

Skipping the Golden Gobes Awards Tonight

There are a lot of people who are so caught up in the entertainment industry and all the celebrity gossip that they cannot imagine skipping the Golden Globes Awards tonight. I’m pretty sure there are still some people who take going to the movies very seriously. One of my married friends has a long term standing date with his wife to go to dinner and the movies every single Friday night – no exceptions.

The last movie I saw in the movie theater pretty much convinced me that I cannot afford a regular movie going habit. The price of two movie tickets plus a tub of popcorn and two drinks was about $50. That is just crazy expensive. A family of four would blow $100 on just one movie. Who can do that in today’s economy?

I looked at the IMDB web site for a list of all the nominees and I have to admit that I have not seen any of the movies nominated and only one or two of the TV shows nominated. It would not be fair for me to offer an opinion on who should win any of the awards – I have not seen them and would only be voting on previous roles or scuttlebutt from the office water cooler.

I wait until morning and read the list of winners in the newspaper or maybe one of the online sites. For me, watching the Golden Globes would be a total waste of time and attention, so I’ll be skipping the awards show tonight.

This January is Bringing a Lot of Snow

I usually don’t mind winter – especially just the colder temperatures. I don’t even mind snow very much, if I do not have to drive it it and be someplace important by a particular time. Otherwise, driving on snow is stressful because the people around here freak out and cause a lot of wrecks, tying up traffic. And they tend to close school at the mere mention of snow – before the first flake even touches the ground!

The biggest danger in this area from winter weather is an ice storm. Snow does not do anywhere near as much damage to trees and property as ice does. The ice is heavy and takes down entire trees and electric poles, as well as making roads treacherous to drive.

This January we have already had some snow and ice, and the Farmer’s Almanac is forecasting a lot of very cold weather this winter. I think January was bring us a lot of snow this year. I predict the kids will be missing a lot of school because of the weather this winter.
