Being Chosen

One of the small pleasures I have in life is the ability to help people from time to time. I recently had the chance to help a number of kids who really needed it. It’s a group of underprivileged kids called headway. They are sponsored by a local church group and others who care. One way we care for the kids is to encourage physical exercise as a way of staying out of trouble.

The group has a building where the kids meet and there is a large field behind it. The building is old but still very functional. Anyway, we thought that providing Gym Lockers for the kids would help them feel like they had a stake in the group. Each kid would have his or her own locker that would be entirely theirs. We agreed to start looking for some right away.

Being as that some members of the group know that I excel in matters like these, I was volunteered to find some Lockers for sale and purchase them. While I was apprehensive at first, I soon found out how easy it was to find them. I visited a site called morelockers.com and found just what I was looking for. The prices were right and the service was first class. Now the kids are happy and I have a warm feeling in my heart.

Helpless

One thing that happens to many people when disaster strikes is a feeling of helplessness. One instance of this is going on in the coastal towns that surround the Gulf of Mexico. As the oil continues to destroy the fishing industry, many are uncertain about the future and what it will bring. This has led to many people needing help from depression.

Social services that provide mental health to these individuals are being overloaded with new cases. Stress on the system is causing gaps in service and is taking a toll on those who depend on it. There is also the long term impact of the spill and no one knows how that will turn out.

Space Shuttle

The U.S. space shuttle program is scheduled to end after only two more missions. There has been much debate whether or not to keep the program going. The shuttles were retired after a decision from ex-president George Bush. President Obama has not changed the plan thus far.

The U.S. will now rely on the Russian space program to transport men and women to the space station. The Russians plan to charge $55.8 million per person. Many Americans are leery of allowing the Russians so much control over our space program. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Around the house

The busiest place in our house always seems to be the kitchen. Its central location as well as its contents makes it a magnet for the family. Since we all spend so much time there, a lot of cooking goes on as well. One thing we have been short on lately is cooking utensils. That’s why we started looking for a good website to purchase them from.

I searched the internet and found a site I liked. It is called jkadamsdirect.com and it has a full line of utensils to choose from. The first thing we wanted was the jk adams wine rack. We thought it would fit in very well with our décor as well as save us some badly needed space. Another item we liked was the jk adams cutting board. Our old one is in bad shape and needs to be replaced.

In addition to those items, we thought that a jk adams spice rack would fit in nicely as well. It’s a nuisance having to search through all those containers of spices. Having them neatly organized would benefit us when we are cooking. I think our kitchen will be even better than before and I know it will continue to be a central location in our house.

BP Woes

The giant oil company BP is reeling financially since the oil spill started. The company’s stock shares are way down hitting a new low today. The stock closed today at $28.74 per share in New York. Investors are scared of the large amount of clean up funds that are anticipated. They also face a number of lawsuits from various entities.

Those in the know say that the company is still sound but will struggle under the financial weight of the spill for years to come. They have plans to keep drilling and oil prices are steadily going up over time. I am sure the company will survive.

We spend a lot of time in our lives seeking answers. That’s why it’s important that we have the best tools to find the answers we need. The can provide the individual attention that is sometimes necessary to learn difficult subjects.

My daughter is generally very smart. She usually only has trouble with the subject of math. I think that learning is important and I want my daughter to get ahead in life. Building her math skills will help her do that. All in all, I think the whole thing has worked out very well so far and I believe it will continue to be the best way to help my daughter get ahead.

Vacation Dreams

Everybody loves to play games. We all have our favorites and I have mine as well. My game is golf. Some may say that is kind of silly, but I love to be out in the sun and challenging myself in a physical way. That’s why I wanted to be sure that when I went on vacation, I would be close to the courses I wanted to play. I found the perfect spot when I went online. It was there that I discovered where I wanted to spend my vacation.

The first thing that is important to me when deciding where I wanted to go was my family. I had to be sure that everyone would have a good time. I wanted to ensure that the Myrtle Beach Accommodations we selected would be first class with something for everyone. I know my kids love the beach so I knew this would be the place for us.

I called my sister and told her all about the discovery I had made. I wanted her to use this site when she made her own Myrtle Beach hotel reservations for her family. I think it would be great if the whole family could vacation together. I could golf with Bob while the girls took the kids to the beach. I can’t wait for our vacation to begin!

New York Rats

The city of New York is in a constant battle with the rats that infest its subway system. The rodents seem to be everywhere and are causing problems with the subway riders. Some new studies are being done to see how the problem can be addressed. Of course, cost is always an issue.

Experts say that the main draw for rats is food. They seem to like the garbage collection points the best and are making their homes nearby. The rats can live inside cinderblocks in the walls and are making themselves at home. New baits for traps will soon be tried and many are awaiting the results with baited breath.

Goodbye Jimmy Dean

Known and beloved by millions, the great actor and business man Jimmy Dean has passed away. As an entertainer, many remember “The Jimmy Dean Show” that aired in the 1960s. He is also well known for his hit song “Big Bad John” he went on to start his own company as well.

Jimmy was the founder of the well known Jimmy Dean Meat Co. that produces some of the best sausage there is. He has since sold the company to Sara lee. Jimmy died in his home in Henrico County home in Virginia. I am sure there are thousands who will miss him and remember him as the great man he was!
