A tip from a friend

I know that for most people, the economic times have been uncertain. I must admit that I have been very lucky to have a pretty good year as far as finances goes. I have managed to accumulate some extra cash and was wondering how I might take advantage of it. That’s when I heard about Online Trading and the benefits it offers.

More Benefits

The house is considering a new bill that would extend the unemployment benefits for millions who are in danger of losing their unemployment checks. Due to the economies failure to produce jobs for these people, the benefits are needed to keep these people afloat until prosperity returns.

I hope the senate will pass this bill and keep hope alive for the thousands of people who cannot find work. Experts say that there are six people without jobs for every new job opening. The unemployment levels are expected to remain about the same for the immediate future.

Help for those who need it

I work in a large office. Because of this, I run into many types of people. Some are very nice and some are not. Some have excellent lives, while others have struggled with personal problems. It’s the later type of person I would like to address. Since I have started working in this office, I have personally met two or three people who have needed Alcohol Treatment. Golf and money

For those of us who follow the game of golf, we are all aware of the pressure on the players to perform. What we are not always aware of is the amounts of money that ride on a golfers score. Sometimes, many thousands of dollars can be won or lost on a single stroke. Such was the case with Brandt Snedeker.

Recently, he missed a three foot shot that cost him nearly four hundred thousand dollars. Not to mention invitations to the British Open, Masters, and U.S. Open next year. I guess poor Brandt will have to try again next year, but I am sure that he is sick to his stomach.

God Bless

Once again we heard a weird story in the news today. It seems that three New Jersey boys failed to stand during the playing of God Bless America. Shortly after the song had played, the boys were asked to leave the ballpark. The boys are suing and there is some confusion as to what really happened.

The boys say that no one asked them to stand and so they did not. Stadium guards declined to give a reason as to why the boys were asked to leave. The whole mess has caused some hard emotions on both the boys and others who respect the song.

Confidence with cars

I happened to get a call from my niece the other day that lives in California. We ended up talking for a long time and caught up on many things. One of the problems she was having was with her car. She said that it had been running funny and was giving her trouble. Luckily, she uses repairpal.com to help her with her car problems.

That makes all the difference in the world. Athena is happy to be on the road again, thanks to repairpal and she saved a few bucks as well. I am glad that she is so smart and I think she gets it from me!

Dirty dancer

I just saw that movie star Patrick Swayze has died from pancreatic cancer today. The actor was 57 years old. He has been battling the disease for nearly two years and finally succumbed to its effects. The actor performed in a number of movies, the most notable was “Dirty Dancing” as well as “Roadhouse”.

I think it’s been a hard year for the famous. We have seen the deaths of many actors and actresses this year. I hope that the streak will end soon. I’d like to offer my condolences to the family of Mr. Swayze.

Tickets

I was very unfortunate the other day to receive a ticket. I made an illegal u-turn while trying to get into the shopping mall. I won’t cry to much as I know it was my fault. The bad part is that when I went to pay the ticket online, the site would not take my ticket number. I am unsure of how to proceed with paying the ticket and may have to break out the checkbook!

Keeping Dad safe

Every year, I go down to Florida to visit my dad. It’s one of the highlights of the year for me. He retired about five years ago and has a nice little condo where he stays. He enjoys the weather there and loves to go fishing when he can. The bad part is that he lives all alone and there is no one there to help if he gets in trouble. Dad has a few medical issues and has been known to fall out from time to time.

He has a condition that causes him to pass out occasionally. For the most part he is ok, but you never know what could happen. The last time I was there, I decided to get him set up with a system called Life Alert. It’s a system that makes sure he can receive help when he needs it. It has a feature called the inactivity detector that notices when he hasn’t moved and alerts the authorities.

Life Alert has other great features as well. There is a smoke detector and a pushbutton system that he can use if he feels that he needs too. I feel a lot better knowing that he is not alone even when he is. This is a great use of technology and I have no problem taking advantage Life Alert to ensure my dad is safe. Now we can go fishing and really enjoy it!

Too much fishing

It’s hard to find a case when where too much fishing is bad, but I think we have found one. It seems that the commercial fisherman have gone too far in the case of the Hoki. The Hoki fish lives in the deep waters of the pacific and has been the victim of overfishing. The monetary benefits of the fish have out weighed its need for protection.

McDonald’s corporation uses about 15 million pounds of the fish in its sandwiches each year. Environmentalists say that the fish is in danger of decline. I hope that the people of the world will realize that the bounty of nature is not always limitless. We must be able to find a balance between our interests and Mother Nature. I hope we will find a way to do so.
