Way To Go, Titans!

Awesome game on Monday Night Football. The Titans scored first with a field goal, then the Colts answered with a touchdown and it looked like the Colts were going to win this game. but toward the end our QB saved the day. With several throws that only a seasoned quarterback like Collins could manage, we scored big and won the game.

Even the commentators mentioned the fact that a seasoned quarterback made the right plays in this game. And they remarked on the strong character it took for the Titans to not give up in the face of a loss to the Colts and rally around Collins to turn the game around and win.

I can NOT believe that the Titans are now 7 and 0. That is so awesome I am speechless.

Vince WHO??? If Coach Fisher even THINKS about dumping Collins he has lost his freaking MIND.

Monday Night Showcase

The Tennessee Titans have astonished everyone and made it through 6 straight games with a win for every one. They are actually the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL.

Tomorrow night they play at home on TV’s Monday Night Football. It will be interesting to see if they can make this a 7th win with all the pressure of going for a record plus being on Monday Night Football.

This will be a great opportunity for Collins to shine as quarterback. If he can wrangle another winning game, I hope they kiss Vince Young goodbye permanently.

Weak Team This Year

Well, I am unimpressed with the Predators this year. They have nothing except Tootoo, a defenseman with a huge fan base for his rough and rowdy ways. He’s short but quite a scapper and the crowd goes wild when he drops his gloves.

Other than Tootoo, we don’t have a great goalie. Ellis is OK, Renne is OK, but they are not great and they are losing us games. No way we should have lost to Dallas.

We don’t have anyone who can shoot – they all love to pass the puck but no one gets hard in there and shoots. Very frustrating.

Find it strange that the Blackhawks fired their coach after their loss to the Predators. Gee, we must have no respect at all in the league if losing to us will cost you the coaching job.

Two For Three

Last night was the third regular season game for the Nashville Predators. The preseason pretty muched sucked, but now that the games really count, they have gotten a little more serious about scoring.

We lost the first game to one of the worst teams in the league. That sucked and made me doubt this team has any magic this year. But then they played Dallas in the first home game and they pulled a win out of the hat. So that was good – it was a pretty win, but a win nonetheless.

So they they go on the road and play Chicago. It used to be that Chicago was considered a rough team – lots of bullies ready to drop gloves. But I didn’t really see that in this game. There was a little pushing and shoving around the Goalies, but that is to be expected.

The fun thing about the Chicago game is that turned into a shootout and the Preds managed to send out a couple of average shooters to get a win out of it. So, huzzah!

Hockey – Finally

We suffered through a couple weeks of preseason hockey games. Now the real deal is here. We have so many players retired, suspended, traded off and injured that my favorite team is barely recognizable. Other than the fact that they play in the town where I live, I have almost no reason to cheer for this groups of newbies and sissies they call our team.

Even the team motto is LAME. “They stick with you.” I mean, WTF? Are we talking about oatmeal sticking with you or a hockey team that skates, fights and scores? Gah.

So we lose the season opener to the worst team in the League and then last night our first home game we beat one of the best teams in the League. Talk about extreme hot and cold. I’m so glad I didn’t waste my hard earned cash on season tickets this year. All my extra money is going into my gas tank with the price of gas up so high. If I was to be paying for the season tickets I’d have to be making some huge personal sacrifices in my standard of living and I don’t think this team has the power players to make that worth it. So I’ll watch the games on TV this year and maybe even watch the games for a few other teams with the quality players  that deserve my support.

Sharing the Knowledge

I’m a big fan of blogs. Any web site that has one when I’m there for other reasons catches my attention and I will usually click over to the blog and read what they have to say. The advantage of most blogs is that they are written in people’s real words and the blogs often reflect more emotion and opinion than the sterile ad content on the rest of the site.

One blog that keeps me coming back is written by Mark Cuban. He is a very interesting man and what impresses me the most is that he is so willing to share his thoughts and opinions in a very constructive way. He writes about a variety of business topics. The latest posts on Mark’s blog have been about the economy and the stock market, and he proposes concrete changes to existing laws and policies.

His writing style is plain English and it’s a quick, interesting read. I feel fortunate to have come across his blog – he’s already taught me several things and I look forward to reading more.

Gas A-Plenty

Great day for us – gasoline is everywhere, plentiful, no lines and it is dropping in price.

Would you believe I actually paid only $3.29 per gallon today? Holy cow, Batman! It’s been almost a year since gas prices were that low.

That station is not in a part of town that I normally drive, but it is not really out of the way to go there. I have them high on my radar for the next fill up unless the stations closer to my house come down from today’s price of $3.43.

VIPs in Town

Nashville has been turned upside down these past few days with an army of media people, security, and personalities. We are getting ready for a major production tomorrow night – the Big Debate ’08.

Every hotel room in town is booked up solid. Traffic has been a mess and Tuesday will be worse with cloing the interstate when Obama arrives at the airport and needs to be escorted to Belmont University. McCain is already here locally and every time he goes someplace the cops are closing roads and taking his safety very seriously.

So this debate is hot stuff – it will be interesting to see if all this work and expense has been worth it for the Belmont people and the Nashville area.

O’Charley’s Curbside To Go

Tonight I had nothing in the house worth cooking and I was starved, so I decided to call O’Charleys and order my dinner from their menu of great American foods. They have a fantastic prime rib dinner only on the weekends, so I decided to take advantage of the availability and order a prime rib dinner with baked potato and garden salad. Every dinner also comes with their famous and delicious soft yeast rolls. The rolls melt in your mouth and come with their special honey butter.

The phone was answered on the second ring and the server took my order let me know that it would be ready and waiting for me in 15 minutes. I waited about 10 minutes before heading out in the car, as it only takes 5 minutes to get to their closest restaurant location. When I pulled up to their special marked “Curbside To Go” parking spot, a server came up to my car immediatelt with my dinner, nicely packaged and ready to carry home. What a great experience and worth every penny of the $20, including a nice tip.

Gas – Finally

Today was the first day since Hurricane Ike hit the southern coast of Texas that we have gasoline available in all the gas stations. While out shopping this afternoon I noticed that all the gas stations have the price of gasoline displayed and none of the pump handle were covered with plastic shopping bags anymore. There weren’t even any lines at the pumps.

I hope the rest of the country has plenty of gas now, too. This past month has been a horrendous strain on people trying to keep enough gas in their cars to get back and forth to work and take care of their family’s daily needs.
