McCafe

The McDonalds by my house has changed their menu board and they are featuring a new selection of drinks called McCafe. You can get hot or iced coffee and milk for about $2, which is a lot cheaper than getting the same thing at a Starbucks for about $5. I might give it a try, but to be honest, I hardly ever go to McDonalds anymore. The only reason I noticed is because I was riding with a girlfriend and she wanted to stop at McD’s to get her little boy a Happy Meal for his dinner.

Oatmeal

I like instant oatmeal for a quick and easy lunch. All you have to do is add a half cup of boiling water, stir it up, and you have lunch.

When I’m at home on the weekends, sometimes I like to make a pan full of real oats. I always buy the Quaker Oats brand of oatmeal. There is a difference between the real Quaker Oats and the cheaper store brand. Don’t skimp on the store brand – you’ll appreciate the real thing once you’ve tasted the difference.

Oh, the Stress

979

Tough week at work. Bad allergies. Haven’t bought the Mother’s Day gift yet. My legs are too pale to wear shorts but it’s getting hot. I need a hair cut. My tooth hurts. I need more time – more money – more brains.

Survivor on Thursdays

logobrazil

My favorite reality show has got to be the Survivor Series.I make a point ot be at home on Thursday nights so I don’t miss any of the episodes.

I love to watch the human interaction between the players. They have to build alliances and make friends and yet they have to compete against each other and win more than the others. It is a constant struggle to find the right balance in the human dynamics between each player. I would love to be a player on this show. I am smart, have great people skills and and physicaly fit. I think I couldmake it to the final three and maybe even win!

Ellen & Bonnie on NBC

I have always adored Ellen DeGeneres and try and catch her day time talk show when my schedule allows it. Her talk show is always wonderful and most entertaining, it is a “Feel Good” show if ever there was one.

The newest female talk show host to come to the air waves is Bonnie Hunt, and I have to tell you that I have enjoyed her show each time that I have seen it (or parts of it) and am happy to see another show that I can put into the “Feel Good” category, that category is pretty empty as of late. Most of the shows that are being televised these days are not something that I generally enjoy, sad to say.

More on that later . . .

The Sunday Evening Blues

Sundays used to be the day of the week that I could relax and do what ever I wanted to do, oh how I miss those days. Now my Sunday’s are full of doing laundry, picking up groceries, finishing up last minute homework issues, preparing a decent meal for the evening and answering the phone and door bell all throughout the day and evening. It seems that everyone else has their Sundays free and would like to visit and/or chat with me, but I’m usually up to my eyeballs with other important issues of the day.

Sunday night is the worst, I start getting a bit anxious thinking of the week ahead and what lies ahead of me, and what is going to throw me for a loop, etc. But I usually get through it all and wake up Monday morning ready to face the day with a smile on my face.

My dog named Mork

I figured we would go ahead and address the ‘Mork and Mindy” name issue right away and get it over and done with, right here and now. Not that I mind all the jokes and giggles, I have a sense of humor just like the next person, and I grew up enjoying the Mork and Mindy reruns that came on cable TV, but I just figured we could nip it in the bud, so to speak.

My parents had a sense of humor also, it certainly came into play when they purchased a puppy for me at the age of 4, and my parents the whole family decided to give this newest member of the family the name of Mork. Mork has been my best buddy and friend, much like in the TV series, since the day he arrived in our house oh so many years ago and still lives there with my folks and he makes my home coming even more exciting and something to look forward to and I can’t wait to see him and spoil him rotten. He is getting up there in years but still has plenty of spunk and I treasure the time that I spend with him, as always!

My Christmas Wish List- Thanks for asking Mom!

My mother has emailed me asking me to provide her with my wish list for this year’s Christmas gift exchange that I am planning on going home to in a few weeks. I can’t wait to see the family, I just got to see them over Thanksgiving, but time went way too quickly and then I found myself back here, on my own, in no time.

I’m glad that I will have one whole week to kick back in my old room and have plenty of time to see and talk with everyone that I have plans with. I know that I will be taking with me some school work that will need some of my attention, but hopefully it won’t be too awfully much.

I’m getting to work right away in sending my mom my long list this year, now that I am out on my own I’m finding the need for all types of items that I just took for granted while living at home and I don’t have a lot of cash to throw into the place at this time.

Thanks for asking Mom!
