{"id":373,"date":"2009-03-23T10:51:00","date_gmt":"2009-03-23T16:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/micheleantionette.com\/?p=373"},"modified":"2009-03-23T10:51:00","modified_gmt":"2009-03-23T16:51:00","slug":"safe-boating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/worpal.com\/machelleantionette\/2009\/03\/23\/safe-boating\/","title":{"rendered":"Safe boating"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I grew up with water and boats being a daily part of my life.\u00a0 Living in New Orleans, there is plenty of water to enjoy, fish, or what ever you like to do on the water.\u00a0 I have also seen some terrible boating accidents too.\u00a0 Being on the water can be fun and too many times, people want to &#8216;party&#8217; on the water as part of their fun.\u00a0 All too many times, that type of fun can turn into a tragedy in the blink of an eye.\u00a0 We have laws against drinking and driving a car and a lot of states now have the same laws for operating a boat and drinking too.\u00a0 I personally think this is a really good idea.<\/p>\n<p>If you have ever seen a boating accident due to someone drinking, you&#8217;ll be glad there are Boating OUI laws too.  Stop and think about it, in a car you have air bags, seat belts and all of that medal around you. In a boat, you don&#8217;t have any of those things so there is a very good chance that someone will drown from the accident.  I&#8217;m one person who thinks this is a great law and hope that all states have it too.
