This is a proposal seems to come from the hard-working citizens in a ground swell of disgust with congressional arrogance and duplicity. Perhaps we’ve found something that most of us (Center-Left \/ Independent \/ Center-Right), or 80% of the voters would support.<\/p>\n
Both major political parties have been screwing us for decades and both have reason to be alarmed by the wrath of the electorate.<\/p>\n
The proposal is to promote a “Congressional Reform Act of 2009 or 2010.” It would contain eight provisions, all of which would probably be strongly endorsed by those who drafted the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.<\/p>\n
I know many of you will say, “this is impossible.” Remember, Congress has the lowest approval of any entity in Government, now is the time when Americans will join together to reform Congress, the entity that represents us.<\/p>\n
We need a Senator to introduce this bill in the US Senate and a Representative to introduce a similar bill in the US House. Please add any ideas on how to get this done.<\/p>\n
\u00a0If all else fails, something like this needs to be added to the ballot for the next election. After what’s been going on for the past few years, I’m certain the American public will vote for these changes<\/p>\n

1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.<\/p>\n
A. Two Six-year Senate terms<\/p>\n
B. Six Two-year House terms<\/p>\n
C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms.<\/p>\n
2. No Tenure \/ No Pension: A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of\u00a0office.<\/p>\n
3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security: All funds inthe Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.<\/p>\n
\u00a04. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans..<\/p>\n
\u00a05. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.<\/p>\n
\u00a06. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.<\/p>\n
\u00a07. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people.<\/p>\n
\u00a08. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective 1\/1\/10.<\/p>\n
\u00a0PLEASE REMEMBER: The American people did not give all these perks to congressmen; congressmen gave all these sweetheart deals to themselves. We need to take back the Congress.<\/p>\n
